NV Rescued FB from Sacramento, CA to Carson City, NV

Hey everyone, I'm Dave from Northern Nevada

I recently rescued an 84 (I think, it says 6/84 so 85? 84?) GS from Sacramento, CA and took it home with me to Carson City, NV. I had an 04 RX-8 GT back in the day before the economy crashed so I'm not really new to rotary but I am new to carb rotary and old cars like the one I have now. No p/s or a/c means half what I would remove is already done! The chassis shows 215 xxx miles. One of my good friends here has an FC and came with me to check the car out. Trooper!

This car came from San Francisco and is fairly tidy but someone decided to 'work on' the emissions and vacuum system so it is VERY hard to drive at the moment but gets better each day. Half the rat's nest was discon'd and on decel it sounded like an auto shotgun before I fixed the vac lines! We have no inspection/smog/Aircare where I live so no worries there.

I got the car, two sets of wheels with decent tires (one factory crosses and the other 15x7 lightweights and a fresh 12A engine from a Rotary shop in Sacramento for $1000. It also has the LSD/disc rear. Did I do alright? I love the car so far but it is quite a change from the 400+hp Camaro Z 28 and the RX-8 GT I had before BUT coming from CA the dash and seats are perfect! Paint? Well - it's satin red now

The biggest problem I have now is the car starts and runs great but falls flat on it's face when I let out the clutch to take off - almost like someone cuts the fuel just as I'm taking off! It's ***very*** frustrating. The carb needs a rebuild (accel pump shot) so maybe that will help? The guy that sold it to me also said that the 'aux air valve' or something needs to be blocked off. Huh?! My indicators and 4-ways also seem to quit working randomly but that could be due to the ground issue these cars sometimes have? Who knows.

Love the site and until I can find a nice FD this will be my daily driver, rain, snow or shine!
