AB Potential FD owner in Canada

Hey guys! My name is Mitch. I'm 18 and currently own a CLEAN (not ricey) Integra which I love dearly. I just came across a 93 RX-7 however, and might be up for a change in pace.

If I can do it without breaking the bank then I will. The only thing standing in the way is how long the engine has left. The whole"rebuild every 80k kms is the only thing kinding nippin' at me.

wow! 18 and a fd owner? lucky!

but to be honest, you should make sure you have more money than just enough for the car set aside in case of any problems.

when i bought my fc, i ran into quite a bit of minor problems and had to spend extra money to get them fixed (even though i do all my work myself, i had to pay for parts)

also i've read that the FD is harder to work on than the FC is, so if you're not very mechanically inclined, i would suggest you wait until the future to pick up a FD.

i am a new FC owner, but the person i bought the FC from has 7 other rx-7s, mainly FD's and a few FC's. he told me that FDs are much harder to work on than FCs are and that it would be better to start with a FC if you wanted to get into the rotary scene, so you can learn about how to fix rotaries and such!

but, if you really, truly want the FD, there's no way changing your decision (as i truly wanted my FC, even though people told me that it would be unreliable... which it has been sort of unreliable thus far even though previous owner told me it would be reliable :rolls eyes then make sure you do lots of research into owning a FD before you buy it.

luckily for FC owners, aaroncake has his own website and has been very useful to my FC learning.

wish you best of luck, and if you do pick up the FD post some pics!

I think i could pick it up for 9 or 10k and sell my current car for about 15k. Course' the rebuild would be 6k (already talked to the people.) I'm not making that much right now but I'm currently taking a bartending course and hopefully a few hundred bucks a night will make everything easier.

I would never disassemble a piston engine let alon a rotary so don't worry. I'd pay someone.

I sorta wanna get this car now. Whole community seems nice too =)

make sure you post pics when you get it!

what color is it? what model? what needs to be rebuilt on it?

Its a black efini? is that the model or do you mean r1, r2? In which case I'm not exactly sure. Its twin turbo, red leather interior... Thats all i've got.

don't you canadian folks get a wider range of options when it comes to older cars?

i heard that you canadian folks get to choose from imported JDM cars?

can't you get a skyline for somewhat cheap over there compared to the USA?

how can you sell your integra for 15k? (out of curiosity) i dont think even the rsx-s is worth that these days. if it's modified, you will have somewhat of a hard time selling it if you want to sell it modified.

any pics of your integra?

FDs are a pain to work on and are very costly to have a shop work on it. Also the engines typically don't last more than 150,000km (stock engine).. BUT FDs are freakin awesome town and smoke anything and are like having sex when you drive it.

Okay so I called. Oil changed every 2000 km. apex seals redone.. i think i'm gonna do it if everything else is good.

And 19rxseven87 (sorry this site doesn't show names. My name is Mitch by the way.) Integras here aren't cheap like they are there. My car in the states would be around 8 to 9.5k maybe lower but i doubt it. Id probably let it go for 9k. Here anyways, slower market, lower dollar equates to higher prices. My car is literally mint. OEM lip kit except for a seibon spoon style lip. CF hood, CF type R wing, black leather, full sound system, GS-R (second highest trim model, second to type R) the engine bay is spotless and it is an 01 (newest you can get) has nice wheels, lowered on S2 fully adjustable coilovers and S2 sport shocks. The engine is unmolested minus a cold air. This is (no joke) the nicest Integra around. I payed 11k for it when it had 120 000kms (72K miles) and it now has 140 000km (84k miles). But the good news is.. I still have all the stock parts. Comes with winter tires/ wheels. Recent oil change, breaks, timing belt and new aluminum rad. just done. Basiically the car needs nothing and won't need anything for years. This is how I can sell it for 15k =).

But If i do sell before the FD does, that sucker's MINE!!

and yes.. 15 years old and it can be imported.. same rule as there I believe. I wouldn't exectly say imports are cheaper here. Everything in fact seems to be more expensive in Canada. All the market is in the states.

Hey mitch, just some advice for you; I bought my 92 FD, a year ago when i was 17 ( bye bye savings lol), and this summer the Coolant O-Ring went . The cheapest place That I could find to rebuild can do it for around $5000.00 (I live in Edmonton, Alberta not too many options lol), so any ways, I wish that I would have waited a little bit longer, and saved up more. Now I have this beautiful, awsome, fighter jet just sitting in my moms garage, waiting for me to save up 5 grand; it sucks man, cant wait to get it back up and running. FD3S is definetly the way to go tho

Yes FDs pull. It's not about just that though, its about the fact that an FD is the most bad *** sports car in the world. It can drift, grip, get you laid... whatever you want it to do!
