I'm the obligatory new guy. Just bought an '84 with fuel delivery issues, a body kit that's not half bad, an extra 12A, and 3 big bins of parts, for $500. I've researched like crazy as this is my first restore/project. It's will be quite the ride. If there is any interest I will document my progress with pics and posts. One post down 4 to go.

New Hobby?

I'm from the Louisville area. I bought my first RX-7 in 1986 (a 1982 GL) and I drove it until it died. I still have it parked in the backyard. I bought another one (a 1982) about eight years ago. It is partially restored. It had been wrecked, but it ran and it had only 102K original miles. I bought a third one for parts (a 1983 GSL), but I plan on restoring it as well. Looking forward to learning from the forum and helping others in the process! I took autobody in high school and I have basic mechanical knowledge. I overhauled a Chevrolet 327 small block several years ago. Does anyone have any recommendations on reference materials for overhauling rotary engines?

Welcome to the forum. I just recently picked up my '85 GSL-SE. I wonder if there are many 1st Gen owners running around Colorado activily... I'm up in Cheyenne WY, but travel pretty frequently to CO. I'd love to meet up with some guys.

Not only did she have fuel issues (cut off relay) but also spark (ing. switch) and compression. (ATF for stuck seal) I'm waiting on the relay and ran the motor on throttle body cleaner, you know just cuz. Couldn't have done it with out the search function! Thanks to all that post and maintain this site!

Got the relay and installed a new fuel pump. She LIVES!!! Next step is a carb rebuild. Accel. pump is weak. Also magnetic choke doesn't work. Back to the FSM.
