PA Newly acquired 88 RX7 Conv. and new to site

Hey guys. Name's Kyle. I'm used to forums and how they work so you guys don't have to worry about that. I just recently traded my 93 ford ranger for an 88 rx7 convertible 13b non-turbo that has some minor cosmetic issues but seems to run great. Needed a battery to get it started cause it's been sitting for about a year or so and after we fixed the leaky injector o-rings spraying fuel everywhere and replaced the battery it idled and drove great all throughout the rpm band. had very little issue starting so I'm assuming it didn't get a chance to flood (I looked up common rx7 starting/otherwise issues and learned how to un-flood if needed but didn't have to bother). It's black and it has the newest gen rx7 rims with hancook tires that will need replacing before the end of the year prob. I'll repost this in the newbie tech section as I'm looking to get info on what I need to look out for or mod to get the most out of the car as far as reliability is concerned for now as it will be a daily driver. Oh, and btw...car has 120k on it. I'd also like to know where I could find a new conv top, series5 tail lights, a shift ****, seats, carpet/floor mats, cat, and how much they run for or just be directed to some good rx7 sites. Thanks.

P.S. Issues with the car are some minor tears in the conv top where the drains are(so carpet isn't great), oxygen sensor might still be good but was disconnected for some reason. Front driver-side fendor was damaged due to the door starting to sag on the hinges so eventually wouldn't open properly. Besides that I think that the car is in great shape and I got a hell of a deal on the trade. Dude traded cause he bought the car to do an LS1 swap but doesn't have the money or time anymore as he's in college now. Ofcourse I plan on taking care of all tune-up items asap so those won't be an issue if they were including some other things because I'm a perfectionist and if I think that something is even a little off i will fix it, otheriwse it will bug the **** out of me, lol. Thanks for reading.

Without a doubt, the most complete, perfect, point-by-point, to the Sgt Fox rules for New members posting of an intro thread thread I have yet to read in the 2 years since we started vetting all new registrations.

Welcome aboard, Kyle! It's apparent by your adventures already with your RX-7 that you're used to solving problems and working your way through everything to the end, so a rotary powered beast will be right up your alley! When they're having problems, these engines aren't for the faint of heart!

Appreciate it Mario. Yeah, I read the forum rules just as I looked up a ton of stuff on the rx7 and I tech won't even have the car for another two weeks or so, lol. I try to be thorough and see what I'm getting into before I leap. I've always wanted an rx7 ever since i found out about them when i was a teenager. I love jdm tuners and german autos as I've also owned a Vdub GTI and thrive on originality. I thought...a jdm sports car with a german engine that also just so happens to be the only model vehicles that carries a powerplant of it's kind? Sign me up! So the only decision left to make for me was how much money did I want to spend and how soon, lol. It'll take some time as I don't have and will not have a lot of money to play with any time soon it looks like but I hope everything works out. From what I've gathered so far, if researched and properly maintained in a timely manner, these cares have great potential to be very reliable and deliver steady performance. But like you said...not for the faint of heart it sounds like. And to add to that, prob not for those that lack common sense, general mechanical know-how, a good learning curve, or the ability to pass an IQ test within the realm of 120-ish, lol.

Well now, I don't know about the IQ part but it always helps to have dat cash! Parts for these cars price like old Pontiac stuff. Hits you where it hurts!

Good luck with you new ride! I definitely learned a lot from this board when I purchased my 94 FD3S years ago from a private owner. It pays to do your homework.
