Newcomer, Joining the RX-7 Community

Hello everyone on this forum. I'm coming from the 3000gt platform, and I have owned multiple imports in the past, mostly hondas. I've been on and off from the automotive world due to dramatic shifts that I have been through in my personal life. Even though working on cars hasn't been my only interest, it's the one hobby that I never lost interest in. Consequently, I have made a decision to attend trade school after the completion of my bachelor's degree to obtain my automotive certification. Maybe I am a little late to join the industry, but it's a challenge that I would like to undertake. Anyhow, I currently drive a 92 3000gt sl and I have owned this vehicle for quite some time, a lot of time and dedication has been put into this car. I'm planning to turbo this vehicle, with the help of the largest 3s(3000gt/stealth) community on the internet. So what does this have to do with the rx7 platform? I'm planning to purchase a FC rx7 between January and February of this coming year, for the purposes of utilizing the vehicle as my backup car. This will be my first vehicle with a rotary engine. Hopefully I can meet some great people on this forum and learn from this platform, greetings from Texas. Peace out!

Welcome! The 3000GT is an exceptional car! My buddy had a 91 VR4 for many years and we spent countless hours working on the car, replaced the engine, and that thing was powerful and sounded amazing! Plenty of FC's out there for sale so you should have no trouble finding a good one! Keep us updated with what you get.

Thank you! It is a great car, I love it. I have an NA 3000gt with a mildly upgraded head, twin turbo intake plenum, and custom exhaust; the engine sounds lovely, but not as lovely as rotary engines. Well, a close friend of my family has one abandoned in his shop. He's just waiting for me to pick it up and pay him what he's asking.

Question. The FC that I am considering buying comes with an NA rotary engine. I've read online that there some FCs out there that come turbocharged. What would involve turbocharging an NA FC? Is it necessary to swap out the transmission to withstand the extra power?

Nice, I have a 97 3000gt VR4! Great car! I just recently purchased my FD last week. I'm not quite sure if it will do as a backup, but a project car isn't a bad start. haha

I love the FD RX-7. Are you on 3si as well? Well, my FC will be my project/backup/reliable old car.
