MI Newbie From MI with a question

Greetings,
My name is Matt and I just bought my first Rx-7, It's an 1984 RS from AZ.
I previously owned two MX-6's in the late 80's, early 90's
It's in GREAT shape with 51,000 miles and one owner.

My questions is, it's missing a plain silver wheel cap and it's driving me nuts!
I tried ordering thru Apex but wasn't happy with the condition of the used cap.
A ny ideas where I can get a new or like new center cap?
MANY THanks

what up man, welcome to the forum. check out mirotaryclub.net, it's the michigan rotary club website. I have no idea where to get new center caps, I need to find one for my FB. I'm jealous, I now know of one person with fewer miles on their FB than me (93,800 at time of storage). Where in Michigan are you from? (btw, there are a bunch of older people on the forum with FB's, there is even an "Old Guys with 12a's" club...) I'm 23 and located permanently in Houghton in the UP, but I'm from the Ann Arbor area. There are a few FB owners around Ann Arbor.

I live in Grand Blanc, south of Flint, North of Clarkston/Detroit
The car has lived in AZ all it's life so it's clean and rust free. It's in outstanding condition and has no evident mechanical problems. Now my question should I have some fun with it and a few modifications or leave it unmolested? I'm an original car kind of guy, but bought this so cheap.
I'd love to have a little fun with it. Tell me, are rear window louvers too OLD, old school??? Thanks

Hey Matt, Good to "see" you on line. I bought my 85 gsl-se in 2000 in the same condition you now have yours-- and I am really jealous!! I love my little car, but it has had some problems (you can read my first post for details...). I see you are close to detroit-- I have been chatting with "kklrx7" on this forum and she is looking for a mechanic in the detroit area-- maybe you can help her out?? Let me know what you think about for modifying or leaving alone-- I go through the same thing. Ideally I'd like a fully restored-to original condition, but I have no idea what that would take (one of the reasons I am here)...oh, and I am over 40 -Susan

You got me...
44 and counting (sigh...) welcome, but I cannot give you any help on where to get the cap. I have been around for 2 years, but I am nowhere nearly as experienced and knowledgeable as many in this forum. I get some used replacement parts from Fritz Flynn, but I believe he only deals with FDs (3rd generation, which is what I have).

Well, we have sister cars and live in sister cities! I live in Flint. Well, not actually in Flint anymore, it's like Detroit
no one lives there anymore. But I'm from Flint and live in Grand Blanc, south of Flint. I'm sure you are aware of the CANUSA games between Flint and Hamilton that were great for so many years. I underestimated not having power steering and overestimated it's power (or lack thereof) !!!!

I'm still a bit torn because I'd love to have fun customizing a car.

But after careful consideration, I think I'm going to leave the exterior and interior original. As one of our fellow Board members said : it would be a shame to ruin it's "classic lines" and I'm more of an old skool kind of guy anyway. I may make some "bolt-on" mechanical mods, starting with the exhaust. I just drove it for the first time and underestimated not having power steering and just how sloooow the car is. Thanks for you note
