Newbie with an EV

How did you get introduced to the RX-7?

I found one in good shape on Craigslist with no motor. Perfect for my electric car conversion project!

Where did you get your RX-7 from?

Some kid on Cragislist.

Have you had any problems with the RX-7?

I pulled it home and found that THE MOTOR WAS MISSING! JK, so far so good...though it's in pieces in the garage.

What are you plans for the RX-7?

Mazda is one of the LAST automakers to get into the EV/Hybrid game...so I'm making an electric RX7 to kick 'em in the pants.

What do you know about cars and RX-7s in general?

I know exactly diddly and squat. I know the Rx7 uses a rotary engine which has caused me massive headaches over the flywheel issue lately. Long story short, my electric motor needs a non-counterweighted flywheel. The EV conversion company told me it would cost $500 plus shipping. I said too much. They said they found another for $300 that would work. A year plus later, as I'm FINALLY getting around to my conversion, I discover it is a TURBO ONLY FLYWHEEL. I have a non-turbo. IT DONT FIT.

Who taught you what you know about cars?

Me. I taught myself nothing about cars.

Have you met any new friends since owning your RX-7?

Just the guy doing the welding/fabrication of my custom mounting hardware.

I'm getting my parts from several companies, but most comes from Cloud Electric, KTA EV, and Electro Auto.
