KS newbie by all means

okay so im tim from wichita ks i have a strong back ground in mechanics as far as v8 motors and things i have made the transfer from 4x4 and dirt bikes to imports i have recently bought a 86 rx7 with a body kit 17" mo teggys and and exhust its a turboed rx7 but the guy that had it before me had it all decked out then took the turbo and **** out put a non turbo parts in it i know it still has the set up for turbo just need turbo its self and some of the wiring for it ive never messed with a turbo what so ever only super charger and blowers for drag cars so yea ive been readin bout some common problems and stuff it surges when idlein and it u dnt let it warm up it smokes like crazy but after warm its fine no smoke dnt know whats normal any like tips and tricks to make sure car is okay and not about to blow would be nice just remeber im a noob to imports no idea what motor it is nor anything bout injectors ive only messed with carbs thanks i will put pics up soon thanks and ik puncaition and spelling sucks

Well, Tim, if you're still messing with carbs and musclecars, you should have gotten a 1stgen RX-7, the '78 to '85 years that had the Nikki carburetor. They are so much like the old 60's musclecars in modification procedures, it's not even funny.

Nonetheless, we are dealt the hand we play with...welcome aboard!

thanks mario 3 i bought this car from a friend i know nothing bout turbos or what is need to run a low boost or anything instead of switching all these parts with a non turbo part what will i need to run a factory stock turbo thanks and im not wants a massive turbo i think stock for now till i get a good feel for imports turbos and the rotary itself

k this is what i know about the car 17" wheels body kit tien lowering springs loud exhust the fuel pump and some sensors are still set up for the turbo it had unfortunatly idk what all has been done to make it not have the turbo obvius a intake but idk anything else when it warms up outside im gna take pics and find out more from a buddy thats really into rotary motors that has a 1st 2nd and even a 3rd gen but hes doen the ls swaps in all of them due to wanting massive tourqe for drift but im just making mine into a street/ show

Welcome Aboard. We're expecting turbance on this flight, please keep all of your trays and turn-tables in........................

What year is your car?

Is your "friend" the original owner?

Was the car orginally turbo, or does it have a swapped engine. Something just sounds fishy as I couldn't imagine why someone would want to go backwards from a turbo setup to a none turbo setup. On the other hand; there are many people who would like to turbo their none turbo cars.

Do you have a digital camera? I'd like to see what you're looking at.

Don't get aggravated and throw in the towel, if you've never experienced a well running rotary rockship you're missing out.

okay thanks and yea im the 3rd owner of the car this guy bought another rx7 that was non turboed and took and switch manifolds and idk what else for sure i mean it dosent lag or anything u hit the gas its goin but just some tinkering i think but its a orignal a turbod rx7 its a 86 but back to the car he wanted all the turbo **** off the car to put on his new one but then after he got his running and was supposed to get me all the stock turbo setup he dipped out and cant find him idk y i still call him a friend but yea i rod ein it when it was decked out back before he had it was omg fast but then my buddy bought it before i could get the money for it so now i have it from him haha idk y someone would down tune a car to sell it but idk dnt care i wana learn more bout imports and the rotary motor itself right now only cam i got is my phone and its bein gay so i cant put any picks up yet waiting for my replacement fone

oh and been shoppin on ebay t3/t4 turbo kit down pipe and manifold 800 to much just to run like 5 to 10 psi in it
