SC New User, from SC, S4 Build

Hey all,

I've been looking over this site for some time in anticipation of getting my dad's '86 Rx-7 running again. After about a month and a half at Rotorsports Racing in Kannapolis, NC, it's ready. I'm 16 and just recieved my license so i'll be driving this car most everyday. As a Christmas gift (also my birthday) my dad had Brian from Rotorsports install an Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit, Racing Beat lightened flywheel, Racing beat full exhaust system (no cats), new slave and master cylinders, brake booster, front and rear break pads, and new wheel bearings. It will be my project car for the next few years and we'll be accumulating parts and re-doing the entire interior (for the most part) and many elements of the exterior. I'm also hoping to get a new engine, a heat treated, large street port, 13B from Brian. I'll be posting pics tomorrow morning sometime as it's night here and i can't right now.

Please, please, please tell me you've gone to a real driving school and not some strip mall class or the high school version. That car sounds like a lot of fun but it's also a two-ton missile that still obeys the laws of physics. When I think of what me and my friends did to our cars even up to when we were eighteen, I cry at some of the iron we killed...Fiat X 1/9's, 1970 1/2 Pontiac Firebird Esprit, 1969 Chevy Camaro with the inline 250 cid engine, a 1969 Plymouth Fury with a swapped out 383 Commando engine, the big block Chevy-powered 1974 hatchback Pontiac Ventura....man, what a lot of lost treasure. I'm tellin' ya, getting experience to drive with "consciously" and focused on the street vs. a true road course education can be a killer.

But other than that, welcome aboard to RX-7 Club!!

Old Man Mario III, no relation to Luigi, so don't go there....

I used/am using Rotorsports Racing in Kannapolis, NC. Brian is EXTREMELY knowledgeable on Rotaries, he raced them for years and the quality of his work is superb. I plan to go to Three Face Racing once I've got everything finished for tuning and to use their dyno.

How do I know if I have the 4-piston front calipers or single-piston calipers? It's a GTU model and came stock with 5 lug wheels if that means anything

Thanks ep3. The no cat is amazing! Is it true that if you go 15 or more over the speed limit in NC that they suspend your license? Brian from Rotorsports was telling me about it, that's insane.

It's reckless driving or something beyond that I think, but I haven't been here long and, well, avoid speeding tickets so I can't say. Seems awfully harsh, I hope not.
