New to RX7s and the Rotary but not Cars
Hello Everyone,
Very happy for this group! My son convinced me to buy a JDM RX7 a couple of years ago. After a bit of searching, we found a good 1996 Efini that we were able to purchase directly from a small imported in California. We had fun driving it home (I mean trailering it of course)
back to Utah. Living in Utah, it was not difficult to get it registered here. We have done some small upgrades and repairs to it, but nothing major. It had about 30k Kilometers on it when we bought it.
Now it has about 45k Kilometers and a blown apex seal. Motor is out and torn down. My experience up to this point has been building hot rods and LSx powered offroad cars. We had the opportunity to meet Rob Dahm at SEMA last year and spend a few minutes talking with him. My son has really made me appreciate the rotary and the power to weight ratio it capable of delivering.
For now, the 13B is going to be put back together with some new rotor housings, seals, water pump and will likely stay primarily stock. With the exception of a v-mount radiator kit. We are just outside of the St. George area, and it gets to 120 degrees in the summer. This motor needs to stay cool.
I think that's it. Just wanted to say hello... Be patient with my/our silly rotary/RX7 questions. Promiss.... losts of car and motor building experience, but not with these spinning rotors.
.
Thanks,
Mark
