i had the same problem with my 88 GXL. The cheapest way to help is to install a cut off switch to your fuel pump. So instead of turning the key off to kill it you cut the switch off and it allows all the fuel to burn out so it dosent flood. You turn the key to start and as soon as it goes to start, you cut the switch on to allow the fuel pump on. Not sure if this will help, it helped with mine. No problems flooding out anymore.
