New RX7 owner in NC
Hello, I'm Mike. Today I will be buying a 91 RX7 na. It has its issues that I will be addressing over the next few years. I'm on a tight budget, but I had to buy this. For only $500, it has a crate motor with around 30K on it. I plan on keeping the motor stock except for maybe a full exhaust next year. Also may free up the intake a little. Anyway, I'm in Clayton, just southeast of Raleigh. I would love to see some local fc's to get some inspiration. Look forward to learning all there is about the RX7!

I drove the car home last night. A few issues...exhaust leak; car stutters after 10-12 mins and flicking the ignition on/off gets it firing correctly again; rear end seems a little loose (only owned fwd, but have driven a saleen mustang before). Also, need a driver side window switch assy, seat belt light comes on sometimes, cel is on (on for years, per previous owner). Good news that it only needs safety inspection. I threw new wipers on her. All lights work, tires are good for a few years. front end painted not too long ago...needless to say it's the best looking end of the car. front driver fender dinged from someone backing into it. I will post pics by the weekend.

The exhaust leak was coming from behind the cat. I removed it, gutted it, put it back on with high temp gasket maker and new bolts...no leak now. I removed the negative battery cable to clear codes to see which ones, if any would return. Does anyone know about how many miles driving or on-time it takes for codes to return? I also cleared the clogged drainage tubes under the hatch glass.
I drove it again this morning after fixing the leak and it's quieter. Would you believe it still chirps second gear? It sounded like only the right wheel chirped, and so that would mean I don't have an LSD, correct?

Welcome. I am new as well and from NC. Western, though. I might have to check out the Pittsboro thing you guys were talking about. Know of any western get-togethers?

Added some more photos after I washed it. Also removed front black plastic lower lip. Looks better to me.

So after having my brother drive the car for a couple months, a lot has been found out about this fc. Exhaust fell apart, driveshaft broke at the front ujoint which in turn broke the extension housing cover. ended up removing exhaust up to header, removed air pump, replaced driveshaft with new one.
In the works now is securing the extension housing cover without having to replace it, which involves dropping the tranny. After i get that done, it's piecing together an exhaust. I want it to be single exit. There is a local guy selling an RB header.
Any suggestions on any of this?
