New rx7 owner from Australia

Hey, my name is Kieran and i just recently purchased my mates 1982 rx-7 s2.
I'm only new in the rotary world and haven't got the greatest idea of what i'm doing yet, although i hope to learn all i can.

I have a 13b non turbo which i don't think was manufactured with this particular series, and have no idea how to figure out exactly where it came from either?

I'm in the middle of trying to restore the interior back to its full stock beauty (previous owners have done a fair bit of tampering with the car from what i can tell)
I've been finding it pretty hard to find parts for it though.

anyway if anyone has any information they would like to tell me I'm more than happy to listen and learn from those who know it most.

Thank you

Haha kangaroo leather is quite good for a few things, although I wouldn't recommend interiors as one of them! Hahaha

Welcome to the forum Kieran. How's the weather there? Hot and humid? Is it not supposed to be the complete opposite weather to the winter weather here in the states?

I'm Ron by the way.

Hi Keiran
im in canberra and have three rx7 turbos . love em! if youre ever down these parts drop a line !
Actually , the s3 was the only first gen to come with both choices 12A or 13B . The 13B version was sold in Japan and USA ! We only got the 12A ! But we could get the 12A turbo .
My coupe (s4) is a grey import even though they released the turbo model in Australia ! But the convertibles sold new in Australia were all non turbos ?? Mine is an import too! The only Aussie release one we have (son and I) is the s3 . It will soon have a mild port 13bt from my s4 coupe in it and a Ls series chev V8 (all alloy) is going into the s4 coupe for track fun.

People knock the v8 conversion saying it wacks the balance out cause they're so heavy BUT the LS series engines are all alloy and only weigh about 40kgs more than a 13B with a heavy cast turbo and manifold on the side. But man , so much more torque. Just need twin turbos then just to keep your knuckles white and the adrenaline pumping !

Welcome to the club, I think the weather in Australia should be good for the lifespan of the car, I live in Wales now but had 6 years in Adelaide, lovely country!

Hi
I live in Canberra and its the perfect dry climate for cars . The term "Canberra car " is used as a description here to imply no rust .
My family are originally from wales . I discovered my natural mother two years ago and that's when I found out my heritage . Their name is mulholland ! Anne(mother) cian (Aunty) and Gwynne (uncle) . Anne and gwynne are both rally drivers ! Now I know where my car passion came from. My "mother" drove a Volvo in a reliability trial here in the80's all women team and did really well! Bloody volvos lol ! I'd love to see my country of heritage one day. Is wales weather as bad as everyone makes out ?
