New RX-7 Owner

Last fall, I bought a RHD 1992 Rx-7 and I'm in the process of restoring her. Are there any places I can decide the vin to find out the specific model of the car? Fd3s113797, silverstone metallic with the 4 post wing, front lip, dual oil coolers and a (Type R?) strut bar. Coilovers were aftermarket when I bought it.

Welcome to the forum! You can shoot over to the 3rd gen section and post some pictures of the car and those guys there can likely tell you what trim level you have. Would also love to see pictures of the car as well!

Keep asking someone on here will point you to the JDM VIN database.

The twin oil coilers would point to the car being a Type R. But i tcould also be a more rare model (Like RZ).

Not Automatics have a cooler for the transmission which sits in the same place as the second oil cooler in the twin set-up.

Found it!

Hey guys, so I finally was able to find out the model. She is of the Type R flavor. I'm sure this is the most "common" model out there right? Still really happy about it especially since I think the 3L silverstone metallic is on the rare side of colors

Please refer to the SSM picture thread. Type R was a higher grade than the base model. Basically it had the twin coolers and a more firm suspension set up, hence more track oriented. The colour was/is fairly common.

Refer to the Wikipedia history of the car. Pay attention to the reference links at the end.
