VA New to Rotary in NoVA

Hello everyone, I've just bought my first RX-7, a '94 touring, and I wondering if anyone could suggest a good service shop in the Northern, VA area. I'm in Alexandria, VA but anywhere reasonably close would be great. The car came today and it seems the truck driver flooded the engine. Any tips on getting it started? Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum! There’s no local shops anymore besides unique precision rotary up in MD. There are several others within a 3-4 hour drive though.

If it flooded just pull the plugs, crank it with the fuel disabled, dry the pigs and put them back in. You should be good to go

Thanks for the info! Do you mean dry the plugs? Not sure what you mean by "pigs." My thought is that its flooded. It cranks just fine and was running yesterday when it was loaded on the trailer. I'll pull the plugs tomorrow and see. I'm hoping that does it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of FD ownership. If your car is not modified, best way to get to the plugs is from underneath the car. As that’s a pain, you may want to try starting it first by holding the gas pedal all the way to the to floor. If it doesn’t catch, you’ll need to pull the plugs. Pull the EGI fuse and crank it several times to clear out any fuel. See...

If it is flooded you should change your oil as gas can get into it. You should probably change it regardless since you probably don’t know when it was last done. Finally you should check compression with the plugs out
