Hi everyone, I've been lurking around here for 6 months or so before I finally bought my 93 FD. It's a wonderful car, all original except for intake, exhaust, and coilovers. Bought it with 54k miles on it. I love the car, it's so much fun to drive even if I am just a bit to big to fit comfortably. Had it for just about a month now and today I broke it. On the way to redline it felt like it wall at about 7100 and after that when I clutched in I could hear it idle like a big cam v8. Also pretty sure I could smell oil burning. So it was fun while it lasted but now it's time to use this forum to try an fix it myself.

Hope you guys will help me on my journey.
A sad FD owner.
of the compression is good too might want to check the exhaust manifold. They are known to crack because of heat. Do you have a tune on tour car?
Welcome to the forum!!! Looks like a really nice car! We have the resources here to help you through getting the car diagnosed properly and set you in the right path to a repair.
Ok so did some looking around in the engine bay and found out that the Boost Sensor line had popped off. Put it back on and after a couple of starts moving on and off the trailer to bring it home the car runs fine. I guess when the line popped off the computer just dumped fuel to save the motor causing it to not idle well at all. I don't really know if that is what happened but that's my best guess. Anyone with similar experiences?
Stay away from redline until you know how well the car is sorted. 3500~4000 rpm max for the next 1000 miles.
Compression test
smoke test
cooling system pressure test
fuel pressure test
alternator test
grounds check
run codes and correct any errors
throttle position sensor check
replace o2 sensor

Hmmm. By the looks of the landscaping and the fact the car has no front plate I am going to guess you are in N.FL. If you are in CFL I can point you to the right rotards to keep your car running well. Many rotards in Fl. I would like to think that CFL has the most concentrated Fds in the USA. Just a guess with no facts to back this up. I just see so many here. I often see cars from other states shipped here to get work done.

Yeah, I got super lucky that it wasn't anything worse. Anything else that I should look out for outside of oil change, spark plugs, coolant change, and fuel filter?
Switch to the desktop version of the site and his location says south Carolina
Thank you. I learn something new everyday. I dont know any good rotary mechanics up there. I do see many cars from the Carolinas getting work done in Fl.
