ND New Owner of 1993 USDM FD

Hello everyone glad to finally be a part of the community
I'm Jeff. I'm from Atlanta, GA but currently residing in Minot, ND due to the Military.
I finally bought my dream car from a good friend and got a single turbo 1993 Montego Blue FD (She's been neglected and covered in saw dust for a few months due to ND being in Winter 8 out of the 12 months)
It might be a R1? It has 2 oil coolers but there's a sunroof. Serial 203589 (Not sure if that would help)
Its not running currently, It cranks and it was driven by prev owner a few months ago, but its not turning over completely but I believe it has something to do with the adaptronics ecu so maybe a re-flash would help it.

As a new owner to a Rotary do you guys have any tips on maintenance?

She's been neglected for a bit :C

Follow procedures to check for any stuck seals as a result of sitting.

There is a thread on here that lists up to 27 items to check for a newly acquired used FD.

Also here is a recent thread on a similar issue.

Welcome!!! That car definitely has potential and is well worth restoring! Do you know any more of the car's history?

Thanks for responding and glad to be here!
Most of the work was done by 3 prev owners w/ my buddy being the last one.
I know theres a Single PT 6266 turbo, an adaptronic ECU, OMP delete, koyo intercooler, engine rebuild about 3k miles ago, some issues with the dash harness, Battery relocation to passenger side cubby, and some other things but ill get a better look at everything soon since I'll relocating her to my garage later this week so more info will be available when I get a better look at everything.

It sounds like whoever had it in the past was really trying to make the car reliable and did some mods that they felt would aid in the longevity of the engine's life. How's the interior?

For sure, he said it was going to be his forever car, but life happens. Interior i'm pretty sure the 2nd owner wanted to customize it but theres suede/alcantara wrapped around the entire interior (sagging a bit), whatever remained plastic was wrapped w/ carbon fiber sticker. Theres also a harness bar, passenger seat is gone and sparco seat hard mounted w/ takata 4 point harness. Nothing much else but a lot to improve on.

Interior sounds like a disaster area.

Better make a list of the replacement parts you will need, and start scrounging them up as they appear randomly in your future. Don't throw away any of your existing pieces no matter how scrungy they look. They may be the best you have for a while.

One man's fractured door plastic is another man's treasure.

I recently priced up 64 pieces for an interior recovery. This was for RHD, and prices I used where highly discounted to NOS, and about half of recent EBAY listings (such as they are). Average piece condition was "good".

Total came to C$3900.

Buyer took about half the pieces for $1400, including postage (7 mostly large boxes) of $300.

For RHD! LHD will make you cry.

Sounds like you have some work to do if you're planning on restoring the interior as well. Either way, it will be a fun, albeit expensive, venture. Still more than worth it to do as the car really appears to be clean and straight!
