Well I'm a little younger than someone anyway. MY first car was a four door 1960 Rambler. What a beaut. Welcome and addiction is about right. I think it's something subliminal from that humming noise coming from under the hood.

Yep. retired now. When I needed a user name I just fell back on what I was used to being called. Now I actually have time to play with my own toys.

Thanks everyone.
gunny--same here--kids are raised and now to help keep my marriage intact--i am playing with cars --again
I am running a supercharged, street ported engine with water meth injection RX8. i track a good bit inbetween engines. Nothin like running a 10:1 compression rotary engine and then throwing boost at it:0

You're definitely into the higher end of things than I am. Mine I bought because the body and interior were almost perfect, but the engine wasn't running, no compression in the rear bank. Needless to say, upon tear down I found a trashed housing and rotor. Only it was the front not the rear, go figure. Right now I'm busy taking all of the internals and wiring from a NA 87 and swapping it all over. Not as fast as what you're running, but it should do alright when done. It's getting close, if I can find all the missing pieces from the 87. Dang this is fun.

I dont know about the "higher end" ? I bet the smile on your face is just as big as mine
I just fell in with the wrong crowd and the next thing i know...... i had all this stuff.
You building your own engines? I too hope to start doing one this winter as a stand by.
i do miss having a carb and a set of points to work with--i have this perpetual puzzled look on my face all the dang time.

By the way my Paris island boot camp company was the last one to use the WWII barracks--1968 if I remember right. Those were the days-- i wish i had known it at the time

I didn't build the engine. I got it from a donor 1987 NA that had been rear ended, it ran good and I got most of the stuff (i.e. transmission, ECU, etc.) with it. It was supposedly rebuilt shortly before that. You can believe as much of that story as you want, it could happen. All I've done is swap out the front cover and oil pan for an FB 13B pan and cover so it would clear my suspension. I'm swapping everything over, including the fuel injection, computer, etc. I looked at keeping the carb since, like you, I'm far more familiar with them, but when the injection is working right it's hard to beat and I need to learn more about them anyway. The carbureted route would have been far easier but I had most of the parts so what the heck. When I get it up and running I'm going to look for another engine to build as a spare. I did tear down the 12A thinking to rebuild it, but the cost to do so was higher than a straight swap to the 13B. The 13B is a lot easier to find parts for as well. I plan on changing the crossmember, brakes, and front suspension to the FC stuff eventually, but I figured I had already bit off enough to chew for now with the swap, wiring, and chassis mods that will be necessary. I've been at it for about three months now and it's getting close now.

Camp Pendleton was still using the WWII barracks until the late 80s. You had to love the wind blowing through the walls and the heater that sounded like an overloaded locomotive when it kicked on.
