Well just wanted to introduce myself.. I've been seriously looking into buying a rx7 turbo 2 lately. It's all been in my quest to find a great car to get tuned. I've been looking at SRT4's, and Turbo 2's, 240sx's and some other cars.

The things I like about the rx7:
Rotary sound <3
Performance seems pretty good and the engines seem pretty simple (and small :P)
The car itself is much cheaper than a SRT4 (around 10k) engine seems cheaper to build... however I don't have tons of experience with rotary.

Questions/Goal:

I'm shooting for around 300hp whether it be on a rx7 or other car. I'm trying to figure out costs for different cars to achieve this. I have read about the apex seals and that stuff, the debates on 2mm and 3mm seals. Seems like the 2mm OEM seals are pretty good from what I've read. But I would like some input on the general ball park cost figures are. Also how much horse a rebuilt OEM 13b-t would be able to hold. Keep in mind i'm shooting for around 300.hp

I know I would need:
Injectors
Fuel/Air electronics
Fuel pump ( I think walbro 255)
Most likely bigger turbo
Planning on going with FMIC
A bigger porting (probably street port)
Exhaust

obviously lots of misc stuff i'm missing but those I think are probably the main things. Anyways thanks for reading. And I hope to hear back from you guys.

Welcome aboard!

300hp on a TII is not hard to obtain.. some people have claimed to do it on a stock turbo... but realistically you will at the minimum need a hybrid turbo (stock turbo with bigger cold side) and supporting mods. Tons of info here on that.

As someone who has driven SRT4s many times and 240sx many times.. I can say the TII will definitely be the most rewarding. FC3S>240sx>SRT4 IMO

Thanks for the info man. Yeah the only thing I didn't like about the srt4's were it's handling.. it lacked pretty hard in that department. The rotaries definitely seem to be really good cars. I prefer the looks of the 93+ but that seems a little out of my price range..

I was also curious about what are some things to look for when buying a turbo 2 rx7? Some guy in my town has one that he says "has a blown water seal" and he's selling it for 600 bucks. Is there any tests you can do to check how the internals are?

Also do you guys think it's easier to just spend the extra money on a turbo 2 or to buy a naturally aspirated one and do a turbo powertrain swap?

Sorry for all the questions but I love learning about cars!

So the mods don't like the introduce yourself section to be used as a technical question section lol. That's why I try to keep my responses light.

Anyways, if you post your questions in the New Member RX-7 Technical section you'll probably get some good replies.
