OH New member wanting to learn

hows it goin? My names Nick, 20, and Im living in a small crappy town in Ohio. Iv been a fan of mazda since my dad introduced it to me with his mazdaspeed3 he bought back in 07. Iv been blown away by the beating that car takes from us and still runs reliably. Besides the speed my dads been a loyal mazda fan/buyer himself since he was driving, and i plan to be as well.

Currently im driving a 2000 Toyota Celica, and am a member of newcelica.org forum. The car handles well and gets good gas milage but is just too slow and unreliable. I lightly modded it, especially from my highschool years wanting to "make it go fast," which i quickly found takes much more work than I originally expected. Iv learned a lot since then, long since moved out of that ricer phase some people get when first getting into cars. The celica has been a great car to learn to drive and perform basic maintenance with, but its time to move on.

Iv come here looking to learn about the rx7 before purchasing one, but after a few searches its looking like the rx7 will take a bit of work and tlc itself. The other problem i have found is the closest shop that can work on a rotary is about an hour away, which isnt too bad but i would rather not pay to tow a car that far were something to happen.

Besides the rx7, im interested in a few other cars, which will be greatly influenced on where ill be living in the next few years. Looking to move to cali, i would be more interested in a RWD car because of the nice weather, but if i stay here i might move on to a subie of some sort to deal with our terrible weather. Iv also put a lot of research into the 240sx, specifically the s14 kouki.

I was hoping i could be directed to a few of the best threads to learn what all I should know before deciding to buy one. Proper care, things i should look out for when buying a used FD, reliability, etc.

Sorry for the novel, and thanks guys!
