Howdy!
Through the power of being lucky and right place right time, I now own a 1986 Rx7. It's an 86 with the 88 turbo components installed. The family who owned it unfortunately didn't drive it much in the past few years and it's got a nice bit or grime. It drives as well as stuck brakes will let you, and runs rich as heck. I've been a NA guy forever and this is the first turbo car I own.
Current Issues:
Leaking injectors - I got them cleaned and they checked good with the guys over at Atkins
Stuck rear calipers - Already got a rebuild kit and currently cleaning all that dam grime off them.
DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY
Some broken outer trim pieces, minor seat damage, and the radio panel has a crack on the top.
Rusted exhaust - Looking at the Racing Beat to replace the whole system
Probably should get a ECU and a tune to make it not so rich.
probably more I'll find later
My plans and goals for the car:
It's lived it's life as a commuter, and I plan on giving it a more track/street purpose.
I want to use it for a mix of Gymkhanna and some HPDE, at least until I figure out which I like more, then focus the car down that path.
Once I have it safely running, I want to work towards a 350ish BHP goal.
I plan on getting new suspension, replacing grommets, hoses, old rubber, paint, undercoating, etc. I want to make this the best I car I have the ability to make.
I am excited to steal as much knowledge as I can from these forums to do this.
