My name is Brennan and I just bought a 1st gen Rx-7 last night
This car is unlike any other car I've driven. The balance is insane on these cars

I raced a few autocrosses before with VMSC and I plan on making this one a weekend warrior.

Mine is a GSL with 135k on a 12A motor. There is drivers side and front end damage so I picked it up cheap I don't know to much about it and I'm excited to see what these forums have to offer!

Welcome, Brennan!

Looks like a great buy. I see you have GSL-SE suspension installed.

Because of the GSL-SE wheels. Those wheels have a different pattern than the 12A cars. It is possible that they used wheel adapters or redrilled the rear axle, but it is most likely that they swapped the goodies off of a GSL-SE.

You could pull a rear wheel and look. The GSL would have smaller solid discs on the rear brakes, GSL-SE = larger and vented discs.

Welcome Brennan, congratulations on the purchase. I just recently added a FB to my stable as well. looks like you've got wrapped headers and a nice big radiator too.

I autocross up in the DC area, haven't ventured down to the VMSC events yet but maybe in the future if I have a weekend free. Good luck with the new car and enjoy the site, there is much to learn

Thanks guys yeah I'm definantly gonna pull the rear wheels off and measure the discs and I have rear tokicos. I've put a set on my old car and they were decent not to much better over stock. Think I would have any benefits over stock suspension with rear tokicos?

The main advantages of the GSL-SE stuff:

- better brakes
- LSD rear (the GSL has this too)
- wheel bolt pattern. 12A cars are nearly impossible to buy wheels for, the GSL-SE pattern is much easier to find

Other than that, there isn't much difference in terms of the design of the suspension.

I haven't used the blues, but a lot of guys like them. I have the Tokico Illuminas on mine (adjustable). I like them.

GSL-SE = 4X114.3 (otherwise known as 4 x 4.5")
12A = 4x110
