New Member from Texas
Greetings everyone,
I'd been meaning to make a first post for a while. Im a new FD owner. I bought it approx. 9 months ago, and finally got my hands on it 5 months ago. I come from the Supra world a my username is a giveaway for those that know. This being my first rotary im excited to get my hands dirty working on these engines. My FD is a 1999 Type R import, and after performing basic maintenance and replacing all the vacuum lines she runs great. I hope I get to meet more members from Texas if there are any events or groups local to me.

Welcome:
Congratulations on the S8!
Two things ot know:
1. JDM do not have a check engine light function. But you can buy a small code checker on Buyee for about $50. Good investment.
2. After late 1995, Mazda changed the position of the coils. Watch out for this. If you use the USDM FSM as a guide for hooking up the coil harness or the spark plug leads, you may hook them up wrong. The result can be disaster. If you take your car for new plugs at a random shop, be very careful they understand the proper hook up order.

Japanese FSM is fine, but the coil change was only briefly mentioned in a supplemental FSM update and easy to miss. Unaware, even experienced mechanics, even in Japan, missed the change. It is important to remember this anytime someone else touches your engine bay.
