New member saying hello

Just wanted to come in and say Hi. I live in VA just got my 92 FD3S imported from Japan a couple weeks ago. Look forward to learning what I can here. Already have some parts ordered. Next is suspension, got a cheap set from Ebay had to send them back as they didnt fit, not sure if 92 RHD are different than 93-96 USDM. Ordered new rotors and calipers from local auto parts store they were wrong as well. Now wondering how much else im gonna have issues with as far as replacement parts. Anyways thanks for letting me in, im sure you will see me around and asking questions and learning.

well... first thing is to stop randomly buying parts you may or may not need. all FDs are the same. there are minor equipment differences with some models and a wiring change with the 96+ but 99% of the parts are the same from 92-2002. you don't need to be buying any parts for the car from the parts store. not only do the vast majority of those people not know what they're doing with regular cars, they DEFINITLEY don't know what they're doing with the FD. any part you're looking to buy for the car is covered here in the forum.

there are many threads that cover what to buy, from where, what type based on the application.... everything you can think of. you don't need to guess or try to innovate with buying this or that. all the answers are here. there's also a great sticky that goes over what new owners should be doing or looking for to ensure longevity. it doesn't take much for a new owner to become an old owner really fast with some poorly planned mods or just diving into the engine bay without a plan.

coming to the forum is the best decision you could have made but now you have to READ READ READ.... EVERYTHING. don't touch the car until you've educated yourself on what it is you're about to do. don't play yourself

Thank you for the reply, yes I have figured out real quick that these are not like normal cars and research must be done prior to working on it. Was just excited to get started on it.

BTW. There are considerably more than 1% difference in parts.

But many are indeed interchangeable.

Do yourself a huge favour and buy these:

They are in Japanese but the illustrations are invaluable.

The parts manuals have exploded diagrams of parts. Great for understanding how things fit together.

Especially in the parts manual which is 90% English.(in Katakna).

as was said above, you've definitely come to the right place. take some time and leisurely get your acclimated with the board. read the stickies and whatever links get tossed your way. absorb as much as you can and make the best decisions you can with the knowledge you are given. this place is phenomenal. there is something for everyone, on every level.

The password is in the file title it follows the word "pass".

It might clog up your working memory.
