Hey everyone,my names Spohn (pronounced spoon) I’ve known about the forum for awhile and have finally decided to join. I don’t own an RX7 yet but I’m saving up to get there. I’m a big FB and SA fan but like most I really want to get an FD. I’m back and forth because the FD will take a lot longer to save up for but I think I have the patience for it. I got into cars over the last two years and while looking around to see what’s out there rotary’s caught my eye. I immediately bought a few books and watched a ton of videos and decided I was hooked. I couldn’t find any affordable engines nearby to mess around with and take apart so I had to settle for a junkyard 13b renesis and had a great time taking that apart and seeing how everything worked. I know there’s so many secrets about these cars out there and I want to learn them all and keep up to date. Still pretty new to alot of the slang (ie. just learned rats nest) but I feel I know my basics. I start college auto classes in the spring and I know I won’t get to work on or learn about rotary’s in there so figured this would be the next best thing. Sorry to spew, that’s all.

 

Welcome to the forum!! I think buying an SA or FB is a great way to get into RX-7's. They're easy to work on and not all parts are incredibly expensive. I've enjoyed rebuilding, restoring, and driving RX-7's for over 20 years and I have always enjoyed working on the 1st Gens the best. Very simple and you learn a lot. Many of the same principles apply to the later years and they are a good training tool for someone starting out. Not to mention how fun they are to own and drive! Thanks for the warm welcome! I found a fairly decent fb with a bridgeported 13b that I thought about starting out on but I don’t have a place to keep it at the moment so I guess I’ll have to wait for another one to pop up later on. I’m hoping to have around 10k saved up by this time next year and be able to buy one to fix up. Probably need to focus on getting a garage for it first though lmao
