Ran the VIN. I am technically the 2nd owner. I can run any VIN number, not just the 17 digit VINs, even re-VINed vehicles (ones that were stolen).

Did a little digging and found some additional info on LS stripes. You can read more at this thread: https: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-gene...-stop-1011387/

Seems we have a couple different opinions, but the general consensus is that the stripes were actually part of the LS cosmetic package. We have an original owner who even has a replacement stripe kit still new in the package w/ a P/N. However, there is also some input which believes not all LS's received the stripe kits and that there may have been different colors of stripes, depending on which exterior color the car was. In addition, Mazda didn't seem to ever advertise the LS much, if at all or document what special features the package included through any advertising. Ed, the original LS owner here on the forum's says the LS package is listed out on his window sticker. He posted a picture of the sticker once, but today you can't view it due to that photo bucket BS a couple years back.

I've rounded up a few picks of some LS's, all members here. Mickster had about the nicest white LS I've ever saw and it doesn't have any stripes. (maybe they were removed at some point?)

This black LS surfaced a few years ago and looks to have brown stripes running along the body line.

Both Dave and Ed owned gold LS's that have a unique brown stripe that went along the top of the door panel (just below the window opening) and turned to go up the B-Pillar.

As Dave already said, if your car doesn't have any stripes, it may be better to just leave them off. Replicating them could be done, just depends on how much time, desire and money you want to throw at it.

To add to Banzai's post, here is the window sticker from my LS. My car never came with the optional stripe package from Mazda:

Here are the rest of the booklets that came with the car:

Dave, thanks for posting your pics. I'd forgotten what a puzzle the LS stripes were / are. So your previous LS and Ed's both had the stripes. Ed mentions in that other thread that his sticker lists the stripe kit. Your current LS does not have the stripes, nor is it mentioned on the sticker. But a kit does exist w/ a Mazda P/N. here's a pic I found and Ed and Kansei mention it in that other thread.

So they may have not been applied to every car, plus we're not really sure if they were applied at the port, or "every port" or at the dealership? Looks like this kit included something for the belt line too? Below the side molding. Kansei also mentions that he thought most Gold and Black LS's got stripes while most white ones did not! Guess, we may never know for sure.

NY New Introductions - Long Island

Last month I joined the forum here and Gen2n3 asked what part of Long Island I was from. I responded and it turned out I live in the same town where his family is. He asked what part of town and again, I live in the same part of town where his family is. As it turns out, he grew up 2 houses away from my house! I know his family. What a small world. We met up this week and took a ride. Gen2n3 is a real gentleman who I can now call a friend.

Brooks,

Thank you for those kind words. It's a pleasure helping out another member and a neighbor. Welcome to the rotary club!

You should make a trek down to Deals Gap and run it on the Tail of the Dragon. You would get a kick out of it!
