Smile New member from Glasgow!

Hi everyone, my name's Ghalib - I'm from Glasgow (Scotland). Just turned 21 on the 10th and looking to get an FD since insurance is finally affordable I'm ideally looking for a standard (ish) one as I would much prefer a 'clean slate' - mainly because I've got so much planned for it!

So go easy on me as I technically don't own an rx7 yet

I'm currently driving an astra mk5 and as much as i love it - i NEED an FD in my life!!

Welcome!

Don't worry. I signed up for this forum well before I bought an FC.

Cheers mate

I hope I have one soon enough! I forgot how stressful it is buying and/or selling a car!

Hi Ghalib,
I was looking on forums and the web classifieds for ages before i bought my FD, in the end i managed to find one fairly standard that had a recent rebuild, the seller also got a compression test for me at his local mazda dealer.
One option if you have the time etc is buy one cheap thats blown up and get it rebuilt yourself, also try and find one with an apexi ecu for future tuning {i wish i had}
I too fancied the idea of a bit of tuning but unfortunatly I seem to spend nearly all my spare money feeding its thirst for Shells finest lol

Thanks for the advice mate, ideally i'd love one that's just been rebuilt but if I find a cheap one that's needing a rebuild it would be good to get it done myself for peace of mind. Atleast that way i know it's been done well!

Admiral and Elephant both quoted me £900 - fully comp That's amazing! I was getting quoted double that on a 1.6

That's not bad at all! Both quoted me a lot more and I've got 5 years on you. I ended up with Adrian Flux at 700.

These cars are really cheap now so it's a good time to buy, just do it with your head and not your heart!

The good thing about Adrian Flux is that they're a lot more lenient on mods whereas i think Admiral and Elephant are 8 mods max (or something like that)

Cheers for the advice mate, just waiting patiently for a perfect one! Wish me luck!

Thats a good price m8 Elephant was cheapest for me too. As my car has less than 8 mods it was not a problem to declare them, but it did increase the price.
Good luck searching for the right car, it will come up if you keep looking and being patient.
I went to buy one that I thought was going to be awesome {380bhp single turbo V-mount etc} but after traveling over 180 miles to get it {that went down well with the wife} when I test drove it the car was a bag of sh#t. In reality it felt like around 80bhp with a single rotor not turbo! That was a quiet drive home lol. After that I was on the lookout for a more standard car, the one i bought was 200 miles away you will know when its right.

Ooh unlucky mate, I'm genuinely looking forward to test driving an rx7 - I've never driven one before so should be interesting to say the least! Thanks for all the advice you've given me mate, I appreciate it! Hopefully soon I'll become a frequent user due to the arrival of my first rx7 FD. Wish me luck!

Alright mate! How's your search coming along? It's a bloody tough finding a nice FD ain't it?

Haha, thanks man! Always loved FD's. There's just something about them that many other cars don't have. So strange, I know
