Hi everyone, I created an account years ago but never really used it. At the time I had been looking for an FC chassis to do an LS-swap, but never went down that road. I also had a ratty SA project car for a short time, but we won't go there...

A friend of mine recently offered me his 1988 TII 10th Anniversary car, and I couldn't pass up the deal. It needs cleaning up, and some motor work (primarily coolant seals). I'm going to go through the engine and replace most of the seals. It was rebuilt 4k miles ago (but has sat for 2yrs now), and the chassis only has 94k miles so I'm hoping its not too bad off. Currently, it is completely stock except for a Racing Beat exhaust and Corksport shifter.

Is there a rotary engine bible or good reference guide with engine clearances, torque specs, etc...? I'd like to have some reading material to follow as I go through it. I've enlisted the help of a friend that has a good bit of rotary knowledge and experience, but reading material is always good.

I plan to keep the exterior mostly stock. I have the original wheels to go back on it, and want to do a mild drop but I'm mostly going to leave it alone. This car will be a fair weather/mountain cruiser and maybe the occasional autocross. I've got an LS-powered Datsun 240z for the really rowdy stuff

Very nice, those mods compliment a mostly factory car nicely. Factory wheels and a good cleanup will go a long way. You say coolant seals at 4k, did he build the motor himself?

Welcome to the 10ae club. FYI, it's an 88, that was the only year the 10ae was made.

To answer your question, yes. Read the stickies in the new member section (this should have been beaten in you head when you jump through the hoops to join and get your 10 posts), you will find links to the factory service manual which has all the information you need.

He hired someone to do it but I don't know the full story. You never know how thorough a "rebuild" actually is. I'm hoping for the best, but if I have to buy a master kit and go through it entirely, that's what I'll do.

Doh, not sure where my brain got 87. I've been slowly browsing through the stickies, thanks. I thought I saw somewhere that one of the engine parts vendors sold a book or DVD or something, but maybe that's not necessary.

Don't get me wrong, videos will certainly help you out, but the objective information you seek is in the FSM. There's several videos out there, some better than others. There's a few threads discussing this. Aaron Cake has a video series on YouTube which is pretty comprehensive, not to mention free!

Proper Introductions should at least include WHO you are.
Nice car though.

This is the internet, anonymity is to be expected!

My name is Mark, I work for an GM Performance/LS tuner in North Carolina (sales, tech support & order processing) I've owned four Miatas in the last 12 years, done a bunch of autocross, currently have an 05 Mini Cooper S that I daily drive and autocross on occasion, and I have a Datsun 240z that's been a two year LS-swap project and getting close to completion. I've very nearly bought an FC three or four times in my life, and kick myself for not buying an FD ten years ago when I could almost afford one.

This is my Mini. 16% supercharger pulley, 440cc injectors, ported header & tuning, made 220hp/218tq at the wheels about 1.2bar of boost. Also has Dinan lowering springs, Koni yellows, LSD, rear sway, brakes, etc... I'm thinking about selling it and getting a truck for a DD.

This is my 1973 240z with G-nose conversion, 4-piston Toyota front brakes, s13 rear brakes, r200 CLSD diff from a 300zx Turbo. Currently getting it running with a mild 5.3 iron-block engine & T56 trans. It will basically just have an LS1 intake, mild cam and headers. Ultimately I want to build an LS3 with a set of Jenevy ITB's, the car should be finished this spring/summer if I don't turn my attention to the RX7.

I've also recently inherited my Dad's 55 Chevy project. He passed away a few months ago from cancer and I want to finish the car for him. Mechanically its done, but body, glass and interior need to be put back together. 396 big block/4spd car

One of my old Miatas and the only one I miss of the four. I traded this car for a Subaru SVX (lol) which I only kept for about 2 months. I regret it daily:

How's that for an intro? Now you know everything worth knowing.

Mmmmmmm, I love the Z. I can look past the fact that it's got an LS in it considering where you work

Thanks for understanding! It actually already had a carbed SBC swap before I bought it as a roller, so I didn't cut it up/ruin it.

They're 18" 350z wheels

...and I picked up the stock wheels today. Fresh coat of paint and a ton of clearcoat. I just need to get tires now:
