Hello everyone. My name is Bill a.k.a "Chilli". I am new to the RX7 family with my newly adopted 1979 RX-7. My 75 year old uncle gave it to me for my and my soon to be driving son. He bought in off the original owner back in 1985 when I was in high school.
He has taken great care of it since purchasing it when he was 47 years old. Oddly enough, that's how old I am. Now in his mid 70's, his heath has go down hill and has let the car sit in his garage for too many years without attention. It was last driven about 13 years ago and hasn't been started in 10. I have to dig in out of his garage where it has years of junk piled around it.
I joined your club to to get knowledge on how to go about reviving her without damage to the rotary engine. It has 45K and is all original except for a clutch replacement. It is a special order blue paint and has back leather interior. I will post
pictures soon when I dig her out.
I need some tips on what to do before trying to start her up again after buying a new battery and replacing the gas.
I hope to here from some of you soon. Thanks, Chilli

Put that beauty on stands. Clean the fuel tank (search 'marine clean', all you need to know.) put a new pickup sock on the fuel pickup tube. Change fuel lines while it's out.
Remove plugs and put some marvel mystery oil in the motor. Turn that baby by hand every day for a couple days. Add a little more MMO and with plugs still out crank the motor with the starter. A carb rebuild would also be a good idea, new fluids all around.
All back together, fire it up!

Dug her out!
Finally dug away the rubbish, rolled her out, and loaded onto my trailor. Pulled 1 mile down the road to my garage where she will be brought back to life. This is the first time out of the garage in 12 years! Oil was changed right before the last time she was drove and put away.
