Hi all,

I am the recent owner of a `92 FD, which I bought from a friend a few months ago.

I have a lot to learn about the new car, but I am slowly reading up on it as she sits in the garage waiting for spring.

It's a Japanese import and its engine had been blown up after landing here, but before being sold. Not sure exactly what happened.

But I blame the owner/operator, not the engine.

My friend bought it originally as a V8 candidate and he performed the swap over 3 years or so.

It now has an LS2 / T-56 in place of the original 2 rotor.

He never drove it, so he put it up for sale and, knowing the amount of time he put into it, and the quality of his work, I snapped it up before anyone else could.

I'm particularly interested in the chassis/suspension side of things, as well as the interior and body electrics.

I look forward to learning more about the car as I sift through all the posts on the board.

Thanks!

Welcome!

Let us know if you have any questions. We have a few other guys on here with a similar swap.

lol I don't want to turn this intro thread into a barrage of questions or anything

but it's a problem with the door lock.

I'm starting to learn that the FD isn't exactly the pinnacle of interior quality, haha

the lock doesn't like to stay in the unlocked position.

when unlocking the door, it seems like the key does not push hard enough on the mechanism to keep it in the unlocked position

if i push on the interior door lock by hand, it will help the situation, but not always

seems like it always tends to come down on its own, after some time

what ends up happening is the door will lock itself, so that I basically have to take the key with me (or leave the window down) any time I get out

Anyway, sorry for the rant

I'll do some more searching to see if anyone else has had this issue

Meanwhile here are some pics of the car

Thanks Kent for the warm welcome!

It seems like handles/locks are a problem on all gens of 7s. I always used to read about 1st gen guys not being able to open a door because the outer handle broke (connection to the rod). I wondered what everyone was doing to their doors until it happened to me. The FB locks also suck. The driver side one gets so worn out that you don't even need a key. Any key, a screwdriver, or anything somewhat flat will open it.

It's fun fixing all of these little things.
