Finally able to get the dream car - '93 FD Base, 54K miles, not far from stock. Bought sight unseen from a dealer in Atlanta. Happy to be joining the community!

Thanks! It's in decent shape I think. Just need to understand what's going on under the hood...not being nearly as experienced mechanically/electrically as some of the guys on here

I'm not an FD expert but based on the aero parts and the cloth interior, I think you have an R1, which is a very bad *** FD!!! Far from a base model and more of a top of the line trim as far as sheer handling and looks go. Should also have a red strut tower brace that has the RX-7 logo on it as well. That is a damned impressive car!

No tower brace but man I thought you might be right, so I looked up the VIN on the Mazda site. It's a Base, a previous owner must have made those upgrades!

Good to know that those sears are the base seats. After looking at the R1 seats I can see the difference. I do know that the R1 aero parts could be purchased separately and in this case it appears that's what the original owner likely did. Either way, an extremely amazing example of an FD! It looks to be very well cared for!
