Hello all,
My name is Mike!
Long time lurker/fact/information gatherer who decided to post and participate a bit more in the community here. I have gained a TON of knowledge about my car from this forum and want to continue to learn more, and help others learn from possibly my mistakes and or learn a trick or 2 that I may discover.
A bit of back story:
I am from Minnesota and this is my first rx7.
Recently my boss gave me her old 87 base se model rx7. N/A but complete. Body is dinged up here and there and some rust on the rear drivers quarter panel. But overall for a free car I am not complaining.
She used to use it for her daily driver and it currently has 165k on the clock. Compression tests yield that it is getting a little tired, but it still pulls strong. She used to get all of the maintenance done at the dealer or rotary specialty shops.
plans for the car so far besides going through and replacing common maintenance items:
I recently purchased an S5 TII engine w/stock turbo locally along with transmission, drive shaft, differential and axles at a good price. along with the engine cam S5 front and rear bumpers with fog lights, TII fenders, and the S5 wing. Also included the rare "finish line" side skirts and fender piece. I have already installed S5 taillights (debating if I like S4 more honestly).
Through browsing countless hours on here on what all is entailed in the S4 to S5 swap, I have already decided to go standalone the first time and be done with it. Having a big boy job and not being married ( yet, knock on wood) lets me have some spare money for my hobbies and toys.
So this winter I will be saving up some spare cash for parts to complete the swap, and in the spring I will be starting the conversion along with body work.
I love this car and the way it feels. Rotary is such a fun power plant, I don't really know how to describe it, I just love it *shrug*
I will be looking for alot of parts as I am missing a few odds and ends on the block.
That's all for now I suppose. Comments and questions welcome.

Yessir. I am the second owner. Had a blown clutch master when I got it and needed brakes all the way around. Needs other things, but Upgrading alot of things anyways so I will get to them as I go.
She needs some body work, but again, I am swapping alot of panels out for TII and what have you. My shed is packed right now with parts lol!.
I would post pictures but I have her in storage over 2 hours from home in a friends shop.

Yes, the 5 lug conversion is definitely on the list. I believe I have to upgrade the calipers regardless when doing the swap? I need to search that yet on the forum.
