I recently just bought my second rx7, a 88' T2. I also own a 79, but don't drive it much, it's kind of a weekend car. I bought it for the sole purpose of being a DD drift car, and have started lightly modifying it. The car was bone stock except for a 3in down pipe of which the maker is unknown, and some bbs "moda" wheels.

I have since stripped the vehicle of AC, emissions, and replaced the cat with a test pipe. I also did the TB mod, and ported it.

I replaced the old worn shifter with a corksport one. The old one only had one bushing left, and made it impossible to find gears lol. I made a long shift **** out of 1 1/4 aluminum stock that was drilled, tapped, cut to length, and sanded for the brushed finish. It's not to everyones liking, but i love it. It doesn't have much more swing than the original when paired with the short shifter, and it's really close to the wheel.

I also scored a Volvo lip at the junkyard for about 12 dollars.

I have big aspirations for the car, but right now i'm focusing on reliability mods, fixing all the bugs, and trying to figure out this idle problem. I'm going to start a thread about it in the second gen forum when I get enough posts.

Soon, hopefully after winter, i'm going to install all the suspension I need, and do a budget vmount setup.

Enough, pics:

from that angle lol.

The dash and other plastic pieces are in very good condition, but the carpet, seats, and any other cloth material is stained. The paint is also in very good condition except for the various dings and chips.

Unfortunately I may put this car in storage soon if I don't figure out what this noise is coming from the engine. It sounds like a clanking. I've tried everything, but it is still there and appears to be running rich, so I don't think it's detonation, unless one rotor is not enough fuel. The car drives fine and pulls very strong.

Here's a random video I found that has almost the exact noise I'm getting except mine is much quieter. When you hit a certain rpm it disappears, or so it seams. I was thinking maybe one of the primary injectors is not giving enough fuel, but when the secondaries open it goes away due to more fuel? I just hope it's not an engine rebuild. lol.
