New to me 94 FD all original 53k
Just completed the transaction on a 94 rx7. It was kinda surreal for a few days. Ive had the car in my possession for about 2weeks while the funds cleared but everything has been finalized as of yesterday. 53.6k original miles. All original car in extremely good condition. As far as i know, it needs rear suspension bushings and there is an oil leak coming out of the rear turbo...either feed, drain or main body. But man is it a clean driver. Bought it with an extra fiberglass hood and set of wheels.
Better check that oil leak sooner than later. Check to see if there is oil in the crossover pipe feeding the intercooler.
Sometimes overfilling the oil can cause oil in the front turbo (long story).
Hopefully it could just be the oil fed line gaskets.
Bit fussy to replace (from underneath). Might as well replace both while you are under there.
Oil could be leaking elsewhere and blowing back to the area of the back turbo.

I dont know any turbo motor that doesnt have blowby so theres definitely some oil in the charge air tubes...im assuming anyway. Trying to source a hood stay holding clip and rubber insulator/mount for the relays

The black crescent shaped pipe with two lines into it feeds air to the front turbo. One of the lines coming down to it brings fumes from the oil filler neck (and therefore oil pan).
If you overfill the oil, oil will come up and then down the tube to the front turbo.
Worst case it will start to smoke!
This happens more often than folk will admit.
Often we find the fume tube is rerouted to a catch can (or the street!) and the port plugged off.
Sounds like you plan to preserve the car as stock. 100%.

thanks for elaborating on the oil deal. I was going to ask but just need to pull some pipes and inspect. And watch the turbo area with the car running and under load. The previous owner added oil often...ill be lucky if it was just an accidental overfill as it appears to be an active leak and drips when parked
The OMP (Oil Metering Pump) is in that area as well. It has clear plastic hoses that run up to oil injectors.
Seems like tough plastic but after 25 years could have a crack. Or the gaskets around the omp.
Then you are getting into the territory around the front cover. and its gasket.

thank you. it was definitely a lil overwhelming being in the presence of it at first... but slowly desensitized. A real bucket list car. The passenger headlamp cover flew off on the highway yesterday. Luckily it landed in the grass and didn’t damage or blemish any ofthe painted finish, but all the mounting tabs are still in tact on the headlight assembly. So it’s broken. Thinking epoxy is the solution unless anyone has better advice
yeah some body-shop-grade epoxy should hold it over for a bit. I like the idea of the aluminum can reinforcement. I did the entire cladding set on my gmc Syclone back inthe day... nothing new.
Me too. Typically i prefer any thing but tan/camel/cream colours. This has enough orange hue that it doesnt bother me...and given that its a clean fd, makes it even easier to tolerate. It is only three items that arent black: carpet; two seats, and option floor mats. Plan is to sell this beaut at the end on the month...as much as would love to keep it.
