MO New hear from springfield mo

Hi my name is Dustin. I am new to the RX7 and mazda brand in general so I apolagize for any dumb questions I may ask and for my bad spelling. I guess ill share a little background info. Im 20 still kinda new to the car thing compared to most. Iv been working and learning about cars for the last say 5 years started out cutting my teeth on muscle cars and and trucks. Well as fait would have it those big v8s just dont get good gas milage. So I set out to buy something a little more economical. I picked up a little 2 door neon and being the new gear head that I was I had to go faster. So I started doing reaserch and found out about the SRT4 neons. So the hunt began I found a totaled 03 SRT4 for sale for $300 on craigslist and never looked back. Spent all of spring break my sophmore year in highschool doing the motor swap with my cousin and best friend. Man I miss that car but deer and little cars dont get along at all. Shortly after that i picked up a ss cobalt and took it back lol. Then I bought my first honda 1995 del sol but after a timeing belt brake it got sold off as well, and back into trucks I went. Iv had more cars than most people twice my age but I wouldnt have it any outher way. Im currently driveing a 89 s10, but as soon as it is sold im buying my first RX7. A clean 85 model I found localy. Well thanks for reading hope to get to know a few of you.

Dustin, glad to have ya! Now, one thing to know about 1stgen RX-7's right off the bat is that they are generally 20-23 mpg creatures in good situations. Out of tune, old Nikki carb, and now we're down in the 15 -18 mpg range. There are a few guys here that are somehow cranking out 27 - 30 mpg on stock engines but I still find it hard to believe. Just a little forewarning since you mentioned gas mileage.

Now, regarding handling. There's a reason they do everything they can to outlaw or weigh down 1stgen RX-7's in every competition they can be entered in. And without those penalties on the street, you'll soon be loving what these little beasts can do regarding braking and curve handling. It really is like a go-kart on the street and that's because the correct set of wheels are being driven by that blessed rotary engine.

Thanks for taking the time to register and welcome aboard to RX-7 Club! The more 1stgen folk who join, the better!!
