new guy here for tips
Hey all. Im new to the site and fairly new to rotaries. I currently own an 04 RX-8, an 87 TII, and a 75 midget that I am putting a 12A into. Ive been into the automotive scene for years, my pride and joy is a blown 97 cobra but thats not what this site is for.
I registered in hopes of finding tips and tricks as well as contacts and parts distributors. Im currently in the middle of a 12a rebuild and will mostly be hanging out in the 1st gen section of the boards.
My rotary experiences include a s5 swap, a 13B REW assisted rebuild, and the current disection of a 12a.

Uh-hum, uh-hum, yes, I see....well, that was your resume', now how about some juicy bits about YOU? This is the intro board, after all, right? What's the name, when did you go "rotary" and how the heck did you get pulled into a 12A rebuild? Makes my 1stgen heart go all aflutter.

My name is Cody and I am an E-6 in the navy. I got my first taste of rotaries a few years ago with a friends FD. Prior to that any mention of rotary was followed by "stay away from those". I was astonished at how simple they really were, and how small. I later purchased an RX-8 so I could become more intimate with the operation of a rotary. Since then I have been around different rotaries helping others through issues and learning more and more.
I fell into the 12A rebuild after purchasing a 75 midget and realizing that there is only one engine that would fit in there that could give it the punch I craved. The car will be a mini roadster, so "Simple" is what I aimed for by avoiding anything fuel injected. I scored the complete (almost) engine and trans from a junkyard for $214 and am trying to finish the car (body, paint, and engine) for under $5k. I do most of the work myself so that will help on the cost side.

Sure, Ill try to get some up in here. I will also be posting the project pics and updates in the other rotary section (once my post count allows). Keep tabs there too if your interested.
...and a true gearhead on top of everything else! Definitely keep us updated on the midget and then see if GRM might be interested in doing a feature article on it. They need another "grounds up" rotary build in the rag...
Thanks for filling in the details so well!
