ND New Guy From Fargo, ND

Greetings

My name is Joel. I'm 22 and live in Fargo, ND. I fell into buying my Miata about 3 years ago when I borrowed in from a friend and crashed it. Ever since then I have been reading up and working on it, and loving my mazda more and more. This is currently how it sits...

Main Mods:
OEM Hard top
Tuckin99 N2 JDM Fender Flares
K Sport Coilovers
Flyin Miata sway bars
16x8 0 offset XXR 513 Wheels
EBC rotors and pads
few others that arent really important

Anyways, I have trolled this website for a long time but never joined until tonight. I will post my build thread starting tomorrow when I pick up the car, but this morning I fell into a free '82 RX7 when I was out on a delivery in Horace, ND bringing a Fridge to a lady. She told me I could have her car, which she bought in 1982 brand new. It is high mileage and isnt a super clean car, but hey, its free, right? Anyways, I will post up a build thread for that starting tomorrow when I bring it home.

Since you asked, I will write you a small novel as I am waiting for the girlfriend to fix her hair...

I needed to drive down to California to pick someone up(another long story) and I was going to take my Lincoln Continental(at the time my ls/vtec ef civic was out of commish) when I ran into and old friend who had acquired a POS miata in a trade.

He told me to take his Miata because he wanted to see how good of gas mileage it could really get. Stupid me took him up on it. I left Fargo after an 8hour day of work(9pm) andmade it to Vacaville, by midnight of the following day(27 hours), slept for 4 hours and turned around and came back in 30 hours.

Around Montana on the way back I became quite tired. I was driving through some pretty steep mountain passes when an STi pulled up next to me and started trying to mess with me(a stock mx5 with 135k miles???) I waved him off and before I could think, he cut me off to avoid a semi. I spun 3 times and hit the guardrail. Thankfully I was ok but the car had some pretty nasty creases in the rear quarter. I sent a pic message to my friend and asked him how much he wanted for the car, as I had a blast driving it, and I had crashed it. He told me 1600 bucks.

On my way back from CA, I dropped the car off at Detroit lakes autobody school and left it there for 7 months over the winter, and picked it up with great body work and a 85% OK paint job, but a lot better than what it was before. Because I let the students work on it, my bill was 550 dollars, and I tipped the kid 50 bucks who was working on the car while in school.

I brought it home and didnt know what to do with it... I had a minty fresh miata that I didnt really need, as I was an avid Honda FWD guy. I figured since the car had made it 4000 miles round trip without a hickup, and kept me safe the whole way, I probably should keep this one.

I slowly sold off all of my other projects, but never seemed to outgrow the miata. I studied more into the cornering rather than drag racing, and decided I wanted to do coilovers. Well, I came across a picture of Chris's miata (http://www.triplezoom.com/news/uploads/miata_r_750.jpg) online and had to buy the fender flares. after that, I started really getting into the car. Everyone who always thought my miata was so "gay" or "girly" completely changed tune to "hot damn, that looks like a road race car". The car handles absolutely amazing, better than anything I could've ever expected. The next step is motor work. Its either getting swapped(12a) or turboed this winter.
