New guy in Arizona 1983 RX-7 Limited Edition

New to the forum here, but NOT new to the rotary engine. The current project I am working with is a First Gen RX-7 , that was purchased for my 15.5 year old son's first car. It surely put a smile on my face that he wanted a rotary for his first car. He had originally picked a car out of my garage that he wanted, but due to the fact that parts would be LIMITED, and a real headache to source, I convinced him that a First Gen RX-7 would be be a better choice. WE managed to find a nice '83 Limited Edition in Sacramento, CA, and went to pick it up. The car in CA had no drive train, but we had a good low mileage donor car here in AZ that would provide us with that drive train. I figured that doing the motor swap, would be a great introduction to some mechanical work for him as well. I am however finding that parts for the First Gen are maybe getting more diffcult to source as well. Hopefully some of you here, will give us a point in the right direction, for finding some of the needed parts?

Welcome to the rotary car world. Once you've driven the car, you'll learn there is nothing like it. For parts, start with the 1st gen parts forum and then that big online auction place they don't like us to mention. I know the 3rd gen guys like me use Ray Crowe from Malloy Mazda in VA (866-471-2184) for new parts. He has great prices, knows 3rd gens, and ships FAST. Not sure if he can help with 1st gen.

Technomentor,

Thanks for the info. About the only rotary that was available stateside I have not owned, is the 3rd Gen RX-7. IF I could find a really nice one, I would probably pick that up for myself as well. LOL

Pix

FC3S1991 ,

Thanks for asking about pictures. I do have some pix we have taken, and will have to work on getting some uploaded. I am not really sure IF I can post them though, since I know I can't view much yet. I should be getting closer to having enough posts, to gain access to certain features though.
