KS New to forums from Kansas.

Hi, my names Ben and I'm 16. I'm new to the forums but going to be active forum user. I just turned 16 and I'm going to be starting to rce a it-7 car soon beside my dad who already has one and has been racing for 35 years since he was my age along with his dad and his little brother. They started off racing triumphs, and raced for quite some time. My dad stopped shortly after my 17 year old brother and I were born. My dad had then gotten my brother and I into gokarts. I started when I was 4 and raced competatively at all the local tracks. We then later stopped at age 11 and 12 I believe. My dad had purchased a it-7 car a few years back and got it race ready and renewed his liscense and ran a race. I'm 16 now and looking forward to being an active scca racer and to go to every race along with my dad. This my introduction to let everyone know a little about me and what my lifes like. Uh, I'm currently in highschool and I'm also involved with track. I had got my learning permit as soon as I turned 14, and used my birthday money to pay for drivers Ed school to get my restricted so I could drive to school and back and forth between my parents houses. My dad had gotten me a 1st gen gsl-se for my first car. Probably the most exciting thing was being handed the keys to my first car. Even though there was alot wrong with the car and had to be worked on before It was ready to drive to school and be used as a daily driver. First off, there is no choke and had would not even turn over when we first purchased it. It's been awhile and I don't exactly remember what all was wrong with it. Had no choke and has a webber on it. Went through alot of work and many of days to get running, once running had more problems. Was a project that ha finished a couple months before I was 16. Once running I drove for a while. Mornings often 0-20 out piuming gas and getting to start with no choke was something I mastered.-(dad if your reading this, was a skill I struggled with that I'll never forget how to do and now have a special bond with elonore). Between the brakes in the back and the webber and everthing else gas milage was a problem, let alone the gas guage didn't work. After driving and calculating it. The car had it's first name. 8.2... Because that was the gas milage. Now I am driving a 91 vert. Anyways, to some it all up Looking forward to going to all the Midwest events.

Welcome Ben. We always have a special love for our first cars and the RX7 is an exceptional one. Beats the 1960 Rambler 4 door that I had as a first car, hands down. Hope you have fun with the SCCA racing. Racing is a blast as long as you don't take yourself too seriously, it's supposed to be fun after all. Hope to make it to some races myself in the area, maybe I'll see you there. I've never run SCCA so I'll be in the beginners category too. Good to hear from someone else in the Kansas area.

yeah, everybody who is a motörhead has a certain connection to their first car. Are you in scca or any kind of racing? And I am real excited, drivers school is coming up and I'm stoked about this year. I hope to have alot of fun and meet some cool people. And both of you are in the Kansas area? That's tight, I don't know too many people here with same kind of car hobbies. And for sure cramms. Sounds good

I drove local stock cars for a while, but I've been out of it for a long time. Never SCCA though, want to give it a try. Hopefully I'll get an engine back in my car soon and I'll probably try the Salina area. I have been into cars in one way or another since I could drive and even though I'm a lot older now, hopefully wiser too (Jury is still out on that though), I still love to play with cars. You've got a great start on a lifetime addiction.

Well that sounds fun. My dad has an it-7 car and I was goin to use that for the drivers school bu hopefully getting my own before then, and yeah about the addiction. I can definately agree on that, I'm already wanting to do something with my car or to my car everyday after school and jus tryin to find people to hang around in he area with same kind of hobbies and such. But it's something I'm really looking foward too. Scca I something I hope to have alot of fun in and meet some cool people.
