New to forum, hi rx7club!
hi everybody! my names Johnny, 21 years young, from the Bay Area, California. hobbies include cars, motorcycles, video games, and photography
I had a 91 gxl as a first car, but the only thing left of the her is well..
its a long story... I was still in High School and was 18. Having a drivers license for a year now I was eager. Found the RX-7 at a great price and jumped on it in a heart beat. 500miles or so later, I got t-boned at an intersection by a guy who decided to run the light. Ran to pick-n-pull with a few friends and replaced the driver side fender and knuckle arm. She was running once again. The motor was barely hanging on though, hence the great price.. So I knew eventually I would need a new motor or attempt a rebuild. I went with the later path.
A friend of mine knew a few rotorheads that said they might be able to help me. Long story short... 3months later, nothing was done.. The 7 ended up getting impounded and i ended up paying $400 to get her home again. " those jerks
after getting my money back, I bought a rebuild kit and attempted the task myself.
Lets just say I learned one way how not to rebuild a motor lol. Hence the picture above, the motor turned out it was way outta spec and among other things was pretty rusted inside. So i parted out the car and gave the chassis to pick-n-pull. It killed me to let her go, but I was young and had no source of income.
It was an obsession... I spent more money on the FC then I ever imagined I would. I only recently payed off the debt I owed. Eventually I bought a 93 Acura Integra. It just wasn't the same, I did a few mods, like any honda owner but I was only joking myself, it was no Wankel. but atleast this little car lasted. Sold her and bought a CBR 600 F4 motorcylce about 6months ago. and my current DD is a Toyota 4runner.
Now with a steady job, I'm planning to treat myself to another RX-7. This time i have alot more experience and funds to support this.. obsession
anyways, sorry for the long winded story lol, nice to meet ya!!

i thought it was an exelent story. i have been addicted to rotary power since gran turismo first came out. And from a kid i have always loved the seven. Even at the expense it cost you the experience is priceless! i have been denied seven after seven, and finnaly got a chance to get a decent job. lol then i couldnt get a bank to do a loan for a car 14 years old. so i found my rx8 and the rest is dodging the law Now i too feel its time to find a 7 of my own. which is why i chose this forum over rx8club. i love my car trust me i do, but i dont plan to mod it seeing as im nowhere near to being up on my warranty.
