My name is Drake and I live in fort Myers, fl. I just bought my first FD last Saturday but have been around this car for 7 years.


My story with this FD begins 7 years ago. I was 13 at the time and my parents took me a lake party, I did not know the guys house we were going too, but as soon as I walked in the garage I knew I liked this guy, there sat my future rx7. I told him at the age of 13 that I would one day own that car, he laughed and continued about the party.

Fast forward to a year ago, I am currently working for a company building miatas to race for scca and the owner of the FD (fred) wanted to get into racing, so I told him to go buy a miata and I would build it and take care of it, so he did. Then a couple weeks later he took the FD to a track day just to get some seat time and took me and my dad with him to Sebring. My dad having multiple track records at Sebring was a good guy to show Fred how to go around a track. In the process of showing him around the track my dad ran a 2:13.4, that is a GT cars time around Sebring, allow me to regress, I am going on a rant. But what my dad did not know is there was a small coolant leak that ultimately ended up with him blowing the engine, sad day for everyone
I agreed to find Fred a j-spec engine and rebuild it and swap them out for him, which I did. Then took the car to Pettit and had them check everything for me because this was my first FD I ever worked on.

Fast forward again to a week ago, I sold my wrx and had nothing else to drive, so Fred agreed to sell me his beloved FD for $6k! Could not pass that up. So to make a long story short, after 7 years of loving this car and taking care of it, I now own it!

Sorry for the rant, but I thought it was an interesting story and wanted to share.
