New FD Owner!

Hi all,

I have finally got my dream car that I have wanted since I played Need For Speed : Underground 2 on the Nintendo Gamecube. I remember drag racing an orange Mazda rx7 FD. I always thought back then how cool the FD looked. At this time i had no idea of the whole rotary world that comes with this car.

Those old school racing games (for me its more NFS than GT) is like a lot of us is what got me into cars at a very young age. When I first got my drivers license i ended up buying a horrible 1997 Honda prelude. Ended up selling that pretty much right away. I went through a fare few of 90's Nissans after that, Ive had a 90 300zx (non turbo), 95 240sx (kouki front), 92 240sx coupe, 55k kilometre 91 240sx hatch (SR w/ bolt ons).

Since I reside in Canada we are able to import and register cars that are 10 years newer than our southern brethren. So I was pretty set on importing either an r34 GT-T, S15 or series 8 FD. When I looked at insurance prices at my age for a RHD vehicle... I was kinda crushed. 20yo male near Toronto ON, no tickets. $550/month for a 1999 Nissan Skyline.

That made me start looking at LHD FD's. Again i'm in Canada so 90% of FD's are RHD so coming across one that met my needs (LHD, no sunroof and black interior) was VERY hard. The LHD ones that DID come up for sale were way out of my price range.

I ended up finding the absolute perfect one in TN. A 93 base model in montego blue. Everything I wanted and the cherry on top was that it was in my price range.

Fresh factory engine rebuild

parallel turbo mod

CCW classic 3piece 17x10 square

Willwood Track day Big brake kit

racing beat front sway bar

greddy type s coilovers

apexi power fc

s2000 seats (amazing upgrade)

99 spec taillights

99 spec front lip

and a lot more...

its needs some exterior love as of now. thats whats up next!

the best part is the car came with an EXTRA set of black rear quarter trims...

thanks for reading!

Welcome!! The car needs a little love, but that's half the fun in owning one. What are your plans for the car?

Over this winter ill be trying to work out the small amount of mechanical kinks. Long term I plan on painting it either white or black. One side of me loves Montego Blue but the other side can resist an FD in white/black. Im also torn on to putting Origin Labo. rear 50mm overfenders onto it or not. Im kind of a sucker for big lips. Since the FD is a very high offset car its hard to squeeze any dish in there.
