New FD Owner

New FD owner here! I've always been in love with the car. My end goal is to try and keep the car alive for as long as possible.

I daily'd an '04 Acura TL (inherited from family). Having a second reliable daily driver car definitely makes me feel better about this one.
The FD has been my dream car since high school. The FD is actually the car that made me choose my major in college! I'm only a little obsessed, I promise.
Having had a stable job out of college now for a good year and having my finances in a good place, I decided sink it into the first good listing I could find (it took a while to find, too.)

The big concern was the bodywork and interior. On this car, both are very clean. The bodywork is refreshingly all stock.
The engine was not totally stock, which was a worry. Before buying, what was supposed to be a 60-120min visit to check out the car ended up taking the entire day to give it a deep look around.
This car has no cat installed, water methanol injection, new vacuum hoses, new turbos and a new intercooler. All the stock parts had been given to me in boxes, in case I wanted to revert the car. The seller assured me that the modifications were all for the sake of reliability and life support, and that reverting these parts back to stock would do nothing but make it less reliable.

I'll be relying in as many resources as I can to keep this car going. Anything helps! I'll be reading robinette's website a lot.

It's Montego Blue. I was honestly hoping such a dark color would make it a little more subtle, the thing I didn't sign up for was being spotted so much on the street.

I've also figured out another thing about the FD since owning it for 2 days - everything on the road terrifies me. If I smell anything burning, I start to think it's the car until some diesel big rig passes by, or I pass by some coal plant. That temp gauge is definitely the most eyeballed of the dials!

The forums seem so autonomous, too. Every question about this car that I could possibly ask has seemingly been asked before and is just a search away. Was there even a need to sign up as a user for this forum? lol.

Yeah in any form (stock or modified) the FD attracts attention...just wait until you fill up with gas and see how many people approach you

Welcome to the forum - I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of the car!

Congrats on your new (to you) RX-7! Love the montego blue and can relate to the paranoia of every unusual smell and eyeballing the gauges.
I second your thoughts on the quality of content available on the forum. The search function has been a huge help in getting a better understanding of what to look for.

Congrats on your new purchase! Hope many years of fun and learning are ahead of you. I'm sure when/if I ever get my own I'll hold on to it as long as I can.

Welcome, and love the paint. I've seen quite a few montego blue cars with paint problems, it's nice to see one looking so clean!

I do, as well! Previous owner sounded really sad to have to part ways with it. I'm thankful for all the hard work he did to maintain it, but hope I never find myself in his shoes.

Interior is tan, excuse the poor camera photo-

I'm glad I'm not alone on this, haha. Definitely, having every doubt and question already discussed makes me feel like I have an entire family of 7 owners around me without even having to wait for reply posts.

Thank you, Apathetic! I hope so, as well. I just turned 24 recently so I'm still living on a fairly low amount of responsibility (to be fair, though, a full time job is still taking some adjusting to being right out of college). I've heard too many stories about people waiting to get their dream car, only to be able to afford it when a 2-seater high-maintenance (?) car just can't fit into their life anymore. Tried to get one while I can still afford to make stupid, expensive purchases! I'm holding out for you when you get your own.

I actually did not know about the car coming in this color when I went to check this one out. Driving it home I was a little bummed at how the dark color concealed the lines and shape of the car. After owning it for a few days, though, I really am glad I didn't get a red or white one-
People come up way too close when I'm driving this thing as it is, the last thing I need is a more attention-grabbing color. Kudos to the owners of white/red/yellow FDs, though. The guys who drive those around are doing a service to everyone around them, just by letting them look at it.
