TX New to the club. Proud owner of a sad S5 in DFW

Hello all, I'm Pip (actually Phillip but everyone knows me as Pip).
Fort Worth, TX
I picked up an '89 GTU about 6 months ago. She's from Greenville, TX near Dallas.

The guy drove it 100 miles to deliver it in, what i could only figure was, limp mode.
Got it up and running after taking it to a dealer who said it was actually the cat converters (didn't even know they could cause that?) and charged me 300. She ran great since then.

I've lurked the forums for about a year, just drooling over some of the sweet delicious knowledge this site has to offer. Though, today is the day that I join.

Some of you might even recognize her. [pics] rx7 - Imgur I hope it is all right that i used external hosting? I didn't see anything about that in the forum rules.

Sad to say immobile at the moment due to failed water seals, but was already suffering from low compression. Oh, man was the body great though. All of the grime in the pics washed right off. Clean lines, nice paint and I want to keep her, so here I am joining the cult.

Thanks to the three of you for noticing my post. haha.
I can't post in the s5 forum til I reach 20 posts. (i understand why and all, but a bit annoying.) But, i'm conflicted whether i should drop in an ebay motor or rebuild? I just love the rx and dont have access to a garage, lift, or tools. (stolen in my last car... not the garage or lift obviously) DFW isn't so wallet friendly to NA rotary owners. water seal rebuild was quoted at 3k. but an installed rebuilt at 3.2k.

tl;dr ebay motor or rebuild my NA. no garage for either.
