New Again FC- NC San Diego
I am a newbie, been outta rx7's for over 10 years, but my first car was an Rx2 in 1982 ( I was 16) I have raced all three generations of Rx7's (road racing) and my first race was in a RX3, so I have been around.
My 17 year old son said his dream car was an FC, so we picked up one over the weekend. Needs work but it will be fun to tinker on it with him.
Need to get my posts up so I can look at some good used stuff for it!

Welcome, Joe.
I hope that you find everything you need on here. Be sure that while getting your post count up, you use quality posts (either asking or answering questions, etc.). We want people to be here for the community/cars first and classifieds come second.
Sounds like a good project. I'm sure most of us would also be interested in any pics of the RX2/3 or any of pics from the road racing events (if you have them).

Kent,
Thanks for the response! I will do my best for quality posts! I will also work on digging out some old skool race photos. I have Rx3 and RX7 pictures so stay tuned. Is it best to post the pics in the body of the post or in a gallery? Thanks again.

I find it nice to post in the body of a thread. Not many people go into the gallaries. Once you get your post count up, swing by the regular 1st gen section as well as the old school section and introduce yourself and show some pics. We have a lot of people on here who love 1st gens and the RX-2/3. Also be sure to go by the 2nd gen section for troubleshooting or finding mods for your son's FC.
By quality posts, I mean to not post "cool", "another post for me", etc. Some people will do that to try to get to the classifieds. We will remove posts like that on the spot and may take the post count all the way back to zero for people who try that.

The first project was to replace all the vacuum lines in the car. We replaced them with hose techniques silicone hose and now. The car starts quick and runs smooth no more sporadic idle, no more flooding and crazy smoke screens! Kid is stoked and car passed smog! Off to DMV and get car registered to roll! Exciting day for us!

Here is the project for my son... We got it for $650 and it barely ran. We changed all the vacuum lines, added the stock fan shroud and fan. Got it registered and he now drives it daily!
We picked up a 13B 6 port in a box complete for $160 so we have a motor to start to build!

I have a name for your son's RX7. The Red Rocket.
My son's first car was a 1st Gen that needed a motor. It was a fun project working on that together as I'm sure the Red Rocket was for you two.

It has been fun. We built a motor along with his uncles help. We used turbo rotor housings, ditched the 6 port setup, have a RB header and exhaust.
We fought an injection wiring issue initially and the car has been dead reliable for a year now.
He has added Tokico shocks, eibach springs, a racing beat rear toe limiter.
This is his baby and has helped him understand cars so much better.
He is now a freshmen in college and comutes 45 miles each way to school. He had pefected his driving to get over 20MPG on the highway so we are pleased with that.
We estimate that he has around 180-185 rear wheel horsepower so it is plenty fast!
