Nathan, Indiana '98 TII

* * Hello everyone! Happy to be a member of such an awesome community of fellow rotor heads! I live in a small town in Indiana and work at SIA, I've owned my modified TII setup for almost two years now. * Setting up for my future build thread I'll provide a "little" background on how I acquired my setup and was introduced to these amazing machines. ***I'm 21 and a coworker asked if I would help him do a drivetrain swap and paint something he called an "rx7" I had no idea what that was but agreed as I'm a gearhead through and through. A few weeks go by and he brings out this loud, scuffed up and rattle can primered 1987 N/A that he said was his pride and joy for the past nine years. It was love at first sight, I knew nothing about the car in my driveway besides the fact that I HAD to own it. * We went and picked up the turbocharged drivetrain he wanted to swap and he told me a little about what in the Sam hell an rx7 was and the basics of a rotary engine. I could only halfway listen as I couldn't stop picturing that loud and aggressive little car, I asked him if he would sell me all his setup and help me swap it before even seeing the turbo setup. He thought about it for a little while and agreed, $4,000 for everything: * 1987 rx7 na 1988 TII upgraded with a garrett T4, 720cc primaries, 1000cc secondaries, greddy upper intake manifold, omp and emissions deleted, mated with matching short throw *five speed, TII driveshaft, TII rear differential with half shafts, haltech e6x ecu, dual second gen specific mufflers, koyo radiator, no name intercooler, turboxs RFL blow off valve, and various other goodies such as map sensor, TII coil packs, etc. * I felt that it was well worth the money, not thinking for a second it may be suspicious that he would be willing to part with it all so quickly for what I felt was a steal, cash was exchanged with promises of helping to setup everything... **fast forward six months the drivetrain is swapped and the car idles for a brief moment then dies, having never owned a rotary or a turbocharged car along with my coworker not being very mechanical or tuning inclined this led to many frustrations and the turbo setup was yanked back out, the shell stupidly sold, the na setup sold separately, *and the entire TII setup kept because nobody would pay the $2,000 I was asking. Almost a year and a half passes, I watch the drivetrain gather dust and think of what could have been, of racing through curvy roads with the bov popping and the limitless power of a 13b rotary engine under my command. After almost listing the setup for sale again the little rotary engine that is a gearhead's heart whispered "give it another chance" so I set forth to build on my basic knowledge acquired from the initial install and decided to do it all the way, no holds barred. To make good ol' Felix Wankel proud, to make my fellow rotary brothers proud, and to breathe life back into the little engine that could. * I understand this is a much longer introduction than many are use to but feel it gives good insight into the first tentative steps of a new rotary enthusiast, looking forward to talking with and expanding with this great community! *

Somehow I mistyped the year in my title and can't find where or how to fix it, also not sure why when I typed my introduction on the mobile version everywhere I hit enter made an asterisk, never used a forum before haha.
