NA FC in NC (New and awaiting advice) .
Just registered and figured I'd post a little about my current situation with my build.
I've wanted an RX7 for a solid 8 years and saved one from the scrap yard for $500 early this October. The owner didn't have a title to it and it's been quite a headache trying to get it registered for that reason.
As of right now I've cut all rust spots and re welded the body.
New guage cluster
Sanded and primed the front quarter panels.
Purchased 3 other blown NA S4 motors
Atkins soft seal rebuild kit
New clutch
A few glowshift guages I picked up while they were on sale
Currently cleaning the last of the 3 spare motor parts
Awaiting title so that I can pull the original blown motor (huge coolant seal leak, so large that coolant fills the housings before it can even start up.)
Adter I pull the motor I will be stripping the entire car down stripping the 3 layers of red MAACO paint off. I narrowed my colors down to either a silk white or metallic blue.
:
Future plans:
I'd love to eventually do a TT swap but for my first build I'll be sticking with a large port NA. Want to get Haltech 1000 so that no matter how the plans change it can stand up to the challenge. When first built I'll be using a remapped stock ECU.
All grey interior carpetting is relatively well kept but DIRTY. Once stripped they will all be dyed solid black and cleaned thoroughly.
Center console bezel is missing and loks ragged. I'll have to fab something up to hold a simple head unit.
* I have to admit that I've been reading information on this site on and off for the last 3 or 4 years and only just decided to register now that I'm sure that this build will finally be happening. As it just so happens, I followed Aaron Cake's Cosmo build on Youtube for i don't even know how long, which was the first intro I saw into a 13b rebuild (thanks for that BTW). AS this site has been such an inspiration in my buying an RX7 of my own I felt thte need to finally join and add to the community.
As I'm new I hope that you all have your own advice and recommendations for my build as I've seen you all do for so many others. I'm glad to finally be a part of the community.

Welcome!
I have to say it sounds like you have quite the project car on your hands. from personal experience i would say that it is best to choose weather its going to be a track car or a legal car right from the beginning. I ran into some serious smog problems with my ported engine and now it will cost me about the price of the car to get it legally running on the CA roads. knowing what your going to mainly use the car for will save you money in the long run. hope my advice helped!
