My first RX7

Happy to be here, my friend's Dad recently gave me his 1985 GSL, to which I'm very grateful. It had sat on his property since at least 2012, it didn't run and he needed it gone because he's moving. I've since gotten it running and fixed a few things on it but still have a few things left to fix before I drive it, but I'm totally in love with the car.

My friend's Dad bought the car in 2000 in Newark, OH from a lady who was the 2nd owner, she bought it in 1987 from the lady that bought the car new in Columbus, OH in 1985. He had a rebuilt 12a and clutch installed around 2002. I was told in 2003 a dump truck backed into the front bumper, and that he used some of the insurance money to have his buddy repaint the car from black to this metallic yellow. Eventually I will need to repaint the car but for now I'm just going to paint correct it and take the sunroof panel to a paint shop to hopefully figure out the color code for some touch up paint.

It had pine needles in every nook and cranny:

After it's first wash/wax in years.

Welcome to the forum! Glad to see another member from Ohio here! Original color would have been Sparkling Black Metallic given its an 85. Brilliant Black was not a color option in 85.

The yellow looks good on the car and it appears to have been done nicely. The car has a great history and its amazing that you know it! How has the interior held up?

Interior is pretty complete, but I've had to clean it up quite a bit because the car had sat with the windows cracked open. Seats are out so I can use a carpet extractor, (driver side is afterwards). I'll post more in a build thread soon.

The carpet looks like its in great shape as well. The left side cleaned up nicely! Will definitely be great to see the car brought back to operating condition and I'll also look for your build thread!
