My First FD - Okinawa

Hello everyone, just wanted to say present here in club RX7. I'm new to the club, but no stranger to forums or cars. I currently live in Okinawa, Japan working for the US AF as a Civilian. Currently own an AE86, that I plan on taking back to the US and recently bought my first FD from a friend who was going to junk it! It was just the body and completely stripped, but I bought an engine from him as well, and he gave me lots of parts to put on it, like interior parts and so forth. I also bought parts of my own of course and still need a few things here and there, but nothing major. As a matter of fact, the cars is almost ready, but while trying to bleed the clutch I noticed a fluid coming out of the tranny so I need to figure out what's causing this before I can continue with adding tranny, lsd fluid, etc... I'm still learning and reading a lot about these cars and I'm hoping to learn more here on the forum.

Here are a few pics of the car from when I bought it to how it looks now, well, somewhat.

The day I picked it up. The engine, tranny and drive shaft were dropped this same day.

Pic of the inside before inside: no dash, a/c system, nothing!!

A few pics of after:

WOW, it really takes a while for the intro post to actually post. Just glad it made the cut.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I own a 20B, 3 rotor engine that I originally bought 5 months ago with the inteniton of dropping it in my AE86 corolla, but now that I own an FD, it could possibly go in this instead. Who knows, maybe I'm better off dropping it in an FC cause it's alot easier. Again, I'll be doing lots of reading on this site to learn a thing or two about RX7's.

Thanks for the welcoming remark guys.

By the way, my name is Adan (forgot to put this in my intro post).

Well thanks! I really didn't want to see a perfect, no rust body get junked. I love old school cars and this is one I always loved, but never really thought about owning until this opportunity presented itself. Now I just need to get a new clutch slave so I can move it-current one seems to be leaking.

I wanted to say first off i love your 86 in the back ground. The ae86 is my dream car and I would love to own one in the very near future but around my area they are very few and far between. I like your idea of the 20b in the 86 but I personaly prefer the 4age because it's more reliable and same make.

If you are looking for a little more horse power out side of the 4age options try a Scion 2aze (i think that's the proper engine code?). Taka Aono has one in his Formula D 86. It calls for a tiny bit of fabrication but it is a bit more unique and gains a lot more range for adding HP. There was a write up about it in the June issue of D Sport magazine. Also I doubt you ever would but if you do chose to change to someting different Please don't put a honda motor in the AE86. It makes me cry like seeing a v8 in a Rx7

I also like your FD and you plans for a 20b in it or an FC. I was also wondering if you could tell me what rims you have on the car. If i can get the brand and modle name I might look into buying a set.

I opened my second account in 10 years in 2010, but don't really go there much. There are lots of FD around Kadena (work there), but only know a few folks...I DD my AE86 and currently waiting on a clutch line for the FD so I can start the registration process. Are there any FD meets around here?

The 20b into the AE86 is not happening, too much fab work needed. I'm leaning towards and FC for the 20b. As for the AE86, it will stay stock for now and later down the road I may drop a CA18DET that I have...almost same size as the 4ag, but turbo and very rialable when taken care of...I like them little engines!

The rims on the FD were sold! I didn't like them, sorry! They were made in China and very heavy.

Good luck finding an AE86.

the CA18DET is one of the Nissans I never hear of any one doin up. They all jump on the K or RB motors. I'm not a fan of anything but toyota going into an AE86 but I do like Nissan and it's not a honda motor so I'm glad lol.

Do you plan to keep the current headlights or change them back to flip ups? also what other plans do you think you may have for motor, body, interior etc?

I already switch back to pop-up lights due to the Japanese inspection, plus I like it better.

People would cry if I posted the price. Lol
They do go for ¥150,000 - ¥350,000 in the Japanese market.
