Mornin from Canada!
Mornin from Canada!
Hey all,
I have recently joined the ranks of ownership of an RX-7. I recued this poor car from a pair of abusive teen's to get it all nice and fixed up.
A bit about myself; My name is Patrick, I'm 17, and live up in Alberta, Canada. I own 6 vehicles of various makes, primarily AMC as shown by my Username. I currently have 3 AMC Eagles a 77 Ford F-350 a 81 Camaro Burlineta, and my newest addition, an 88 RX-7 GXL with 248,000 Kilometres on it.
I've always been a bit of a grease monkey, I did my first oil change when I was 7 and everything just took off from there. I'm a third year apprentice Mechanic and am enjoying every minuet of it(except those new computerised vehicles..... don't enjoy those a whole bunch).
The main reason I joined this site was, even though I've been working on car's almost as far back as I can remember, I know virtually nothing about Rotary engine's.
Here is the beast in question as I bought it. The car had absolutely no clutch to speak of so the tranny is out of the car now and I'm in the process of resurfacing the flywheel.

You def got a taste for vehicles a little bit off the beaten path!
Welcome aboard, Patrick! I'm pretty sure you'll find any and everything you need to know to get that lil rex back in great shape!

As with the AMC's though, the RX-7 had somewhat the same appeal to me with a rotary engine, it's quirky, and I’ve always liked quirky things. Also, the fan base for the RX-7 is similar to that of AMC's. You either love em and refuse to drive anything else, or you hate em with a passion. Always good to have a chance to rub some the wrong way without being confrontational, if you know what I mean
But it looks, just from a brief skim, like this is an awesome site with everything I could ever need to know about RX-7's. and a nice environment to boot (always hard to find)
